The Walking Dead season 10 extended season is just a month away. AMC released the first trailer today and it’s intense. AMC released the following press release about the bonus episodes:
In these six new episodes, we find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?
New guest stars featured in these episodes include Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Perry Mason, Scorpion) as “Mays” and Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill, White Collar, Friday Night In with the Morgans) as “Lucille,” along with new co-star Okea Eme-Akwari (Greenland, Cobra Kai) as “Elijah,” among others.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead is produced by AMC Studios and executive produced by Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple, Showrunner Angela Kang, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, Greg Nicotero, Joseph Incaprera and Denise Huth.
Each of the new TWD episodes will focus on one or a few characters at a time. We know that Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) have a discussion about Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and where he stands in the group now. Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) run into some trouble. Gabriel reminds us that evil people aren’t the exception to the rule, they are the rule. We also meet Negan’s deceased wife Lucille (Burton). She doesn’t look at fragile as I thought she would. And Daryl and Carol’s (Melissa McBride) friendship is on thin ice. Can these two overcome the mistrust that came between them during the Whisperer War?
I guess the most notable part of the trailer could foretell where The Walking Dead is heading in Season 11. Eugene (Josh McDermitt) wanted to find his crush Stephanie and join her group. Ezekiel (Khary Peyton) and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) went with him and picked up Princess (Paola Lopez) along the way. At the end of the last TWD episode, the group made it to the rendezvous point but were met by men with guns. From what we see in the trailer, these guys are obviously dangerous. Check out the TWD trailer below.
The Walking Dead extended season 10 episodes premiere Sunday, February 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. All six episodes will also debut early on AMC+, the premium streaming bundle, every Thursday prior to the episodes’ linear premiere on Sundays, beginning February 25.
