The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon finale is on Sunday night. On Thursday, at New York Comic Con, TWD: Daryl Dixon star Norman Reedus announced that Melissa McBride will return as Carol in season two. And season two has a new title! The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol. Spoilers ahead for the TWD: Daryl Dixon finale.
“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” McBride said in a statement Thursday. “Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”
McBride played the role of Carol Peletier in all 11 seasons of The Walking Dead. She was supposed to star alongside Reedus in season one of TWD: Daryl Dixon, but dropped out in April 2022. The main reason being that Europe was announced as the filming location for the entire season. According to Deadline, season two has already begun production thanks to an interim agreement awarded by the striking SAG-AFTRA.

Spolier Alert! McBride actually makes her long awaited return as Carol in Sunday night’s season finale. Devoted fans knew she would appear in season one, but it was unknown exactly when. Carol appears at the end of the episode, making it clear that she is looking for Daryl and will go to any lengths to find him. Along with Reedus and McBride, the show stars Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi and Eriq Ebouaney.
