The Universe Is Calling in the New DOCTOR WHO Teaser

When we learned that Doctor Who would be shown during the World Cup, fans were glued to the screen. With our second teaser of our Thirteenth Doctor, we get a look at her multiple companions in the whimsical ad.

Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole) sits in a cafe, taking in the beautiful game on his phone. He’s hit with a mysterious light as time slows. Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) is partying with friends while watching the World Cup Final when she notices the pizza is gone. The mysterious light hits her and she sees a bit of fabric pass. She checks the empty pizza box to see it’s been replaced. And finally Graham (Bradley Walsh) is reading the paper when the light hits him. He sees a set of brown boots pass before looking back at his paper. It’s now a Beano ad for a summer special….from 1981. We end with our Doctor, smiling at the cheeky fun she’s been causing for her new companions.

While it’s a teaser in every sense, I’m glad we were able to get a glimpse at the companions. The series is instantly going to be separate from the ones that came before by introducing more than one companion at once. While this isn’t new to Doctor Who, it is new to the revived series so it will be fun to see what they do with all these people. Is this a taste of what’s to come later this week? I sure hope so. The universe is calling you, will you answer?
