Too many siblings. Not enough timeline. Don’t you hate when that happens, Brellies?
Netflix finally blessed us with the official Season 3 trailer for The Umbrella Academy. While the Hargreeves aren’t ecstatic about eradicating yet another apocalyptic crisis, I’m glad to have them back.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 3 per Netflix Media Center:
After putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, the Umbrella Academy return home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them. Enter the Sparrow Academy.
Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong.
Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?

The trailer shows the Hargreeves’ arrival in the alternate 2019 timeline caused a time paradox, swallowing everything in its path. They realize the Sparrows are a bunch of dickheads, but they’ll need the latter’s help if they want to save the world (again).
We see shots of the Hargreeves brutally battling the Sparrows. Five warns Klaus, Luther and Diego to steer clear if they see themselves in this timeline. But, Klaus, being Klaus, interprets this as “boink myself to kingdom come.” Luther momentarily considers “climbing Mount Luther” if he faces another version of himself. God, I love this show.
Additionally, we glimpse a familiar, beloved face toward the end of the trailer: Pogo. Pogo has a slick new style upgrade, looking like a bona fide badass with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth while sporting a bad-to-the-bone vest.
Netflix unveiled the official poster for the new season. It seems to hint at Reginald Hargreeves’ Hotel Oblivion, the metaphysical hotel he creates to imprison the Umbrella Academy’s foes. The title of the Season 3 finale is “Oblivion,” so we’re more than likely addressing that plotline.
The Umbrella Academy stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aidan Gallagher, Ritu Arya and Justin H. Min. Get ready for paradoxical chaos when the show returns for Season 3 on Wednesday, June 22, only on Netflix. Check out the poster and trailer below.
