Brellies, we’re getting some acting heavy hitters for The Umbrella Academy Season 4. As reported by Deadline, Nick Offerman (The Last of Us), Megan Mullally (Will & Grace) and David Cross (You Hurt My Feelings) have joined the cast for the sci-fi superhero series’ final season.
Cross is Sy Grossman, a family man and “upstanding, shy business owner” dedicated to reconnecting with his estranged daughter. Offerman and Mullally, a real-life couple, play Gene and Jean Thibedeau. The Thibedeaus are community college professors who hail from New Mexico. They “wear sensible footwear and suffer the most extreme case of déjà vu this timeline has ever seen.”

Season 3 debuted on June 22, 2022, taking Netflix by storm. The season finds the Hargreeves stuck in an alternate timeline as they go toe-to-toe with the Sparrow Academy. Of course, the apocalypse follows our heroes again, and they must rally together to avert it.
In the Season 3 finale, the Hargreeves wind up losing their abilities as a trade-off for saving the world, while Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) returns to power like a Lex Luthor-type character with his resurrected wife by his side. Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) gets to have her husband from Season 2 and her daughter in the same timeline, and Sloane (Genesis Rodriguez) goes missing.
Production on Season 4 is underway in Toronto, with stars Elliot Page (Viktor), Tom Hopper (Luther), Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan (Klaus), David Castañeda (Diego), Justin H. Min (Ben), Ritu Arya (Lila) and Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) reprising their roles.

Offerman recently appeared as Bill in HBO’s mega-hit The Last of Us opposite Murray Bartlett to rave reviews. He can be seen next in 2024’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. Mullally reprised her role as Lydia Dunfree in Starz’s revival of Party Down. She’ll appear in next year’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Cross co-starred opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus in this year’s Sundance darling You Hurt My Feelings and will voice Crane in 2024’s Kung Fu Panda 4.
I’m excited to see what these titan performers bring to the table. They’re all adept at comedy and drama. Watching them interact with the vibrant and kooky world of the Hargreeves will be fun.
