Remember in an interview last week that Joss Whedon admitted there’d be more Avengers in Age of Ultron than we’ve seen in any of the promotions? Well, Latino Review is claiming that the role of Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel, has been cast, which makes her a likely candidate to be one of those Avengers.
As the site reports, “The rumor is that the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret. I’m also being told we will first see her in #AVENGERS #AgeofUltron as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay.”
They then go on to report on the standalone film, slated for 2018, saying, “the Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script.” Also that, “legendary comic writer Jim Starlin, who has a rich history with Captain Marvel is aboard the project as a consultant.”
If this is true, could we be seeing an adaptation of this storyline where Thanos is after the Cosmic Cube, which in the MCU is an Infinity Stone? And, of course, it’s Carol Danvers not the Kree warrior Mar-Vell.
None of this is by any means confirmed, but it’s still exciting to speculate about.
