THE CLIFFS OF INSANITY

Fezzik is tasked with carrying Vizzini, Inigo and Buttercup up the Cliffs of Insanity. Inigo (Oscar Nunez) looks down and sees a man in black climbing up behind them on their rope. Vizzini (Angela Kinsey) can’t believe it. He tells Fezzik (Brian Baumgartner) to go faster or he will find another giant.

They make it to the top, and Vizzini cuts the rope. Inigo looks over the cliff and the Man in Black (Jack Black) is hanging onto the cliff. He didn’t fall! Inconceivable!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. – Inigo Montoya

Vizzini instructs Fezzik to carry the Princess and they will run. Inigo will stay behind and kill the Man in Black when he reaches the top. And he will fight him left-handed!

THE MAN IN BLACK

Inigo (Diego Luna) practices his sword moves as he waits for the Man in Black. He gets impatient and tells the man to speed it up. He even offers to throw down a rope to the man, but the man refuses. One, because Inigo is only waiting to kill the Man in Black. Two, because Inigo is a Spaniard. When Inigo swears on the soul of his father Domingo Montoya, the Man in Black accepts the rope.

After the Man in Black is safely at the top of the cliff, Inigo gives him a minute to rest before they fight. He asks a strange question. He wants to know if the Man in Black has six fingers on his right hand. The Man in Black only has five fingers. Inigo tells the story of how the six-fingered man killed his father.

Inigo’s father, Domingo was a great sword maker. The six-fingered man commissioned him to make a special sword. It took Domingo a year to make it. (Inigo carries that sword now… that looks kinda like a lightsaber.) When the six-fingered man returned for the sword, he lowered the commission. Domingo refused to sell the sword, so the six-fingered man killed him. Inigo challenged the six-fingered man and lost. The man left the sword with Inigo and gave him two scars on his face to remind him of his failure.

Since then, Inigo dedicated his life to the study of fencing so the next time he faces the six-fingered man, he won’t lose. When he finds the man, he will say: “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” It’s been 20 years. There’s no money in revenge. That’s why Inigo works with Vizzini.

Inigo asks if the Man in Black is ready to fight.  He says he’s a decent fellow. Inigo hates to kill him. The Man in Black says Inigo seems like a decent fellow. He hates to die. They draw their swords and begin.
