The Princess Bride home movie continues with Chapter Two: The Shrieking Eels. At the end of chapter one, a heartbroken Buttercup, played by Zazie Beetz, agreed to marry Prince Humperdink, played by Hugh Jackman.
THE SHRIEKING EELS
Buttercup only found joy in daily rides through the woods. One day, a strange man and his companions asked for directions to the nearest village. Unfortunately there is nothing for miles and the men kidnap Buttercup. The leader, Vizzini (Rainn Wilson) explains to his friends Inigo Montoya (Pedro Pascal) and Fezzik (Jason Segel) that he plans to start a war between Florin and Guilder. He’s kidnapping the Princess and plans to pin her death on Guilder.
Inigo and Fezzik voice their dislike of murdering the Princess. Vizzini reminds them of who they were before he hired them and plans to kill her himself. Talk about a dark turn. Inigo and Fezzik do a little rhyming before they set sail. (Sidenote: Jason Segel does an amazing impression of Andre the Giant! Spot On!)
Nick Kroll plays all three roles of Vizzini, Fezzik and Inigo Montoya in the next scene. Later that night, Inigo spots a ship following them. INCONCEIVABLE! While the men are distractracted, Buttercup (Mackenzie Davis) jumps into the sea and hears shrieking. Vizzini tells the other two to go after the Princess, but neither of them can swim. He tells the Princess that the eels are coming for her. Buttercup sees an eel heading straight for her and…
Grandpa (J.K. Simmons) stops the story and assures his grandson (Mckenna Grace)that Buttercup doesn’t get eaten. He says the kid looked nervous, but the kid says he wasn’t. Maybe a little concerned, but it’s not the same thing. Grandpa started reading again, but went back too far. The kid reminds him that they already read that part. Grandpa apologizes and finds his place.
The eel is getting close to Buttercup when a large hand hits the eel on the head and pulls Buttercup out of the water. With the Princess safe, Inigo notices the other ship is getting closer. Vizzini says it doesn’t matter. They reached the Cliffs of Insanity!
