It’s time to play the music! It’s time to light the lights! As reported by Deadline, beloved Jim Henson series The Muppet Show is heading to Disney Plus. That’s right — all five seasons of the 1976 comedy show will be available for viewing!
Now, Seasons Four and Five were never released on home entertainment despite having aired over 40 years ago. Besides The Muppet Show, Disney Plus’ Muppet collection consists of hit movies, shorts and the new outing Muppets Now.
The Muppet Show originally debuted in September of 1976. Created by Henson, the series is “a groundbreaking twist on the classic variety show, blending original songs, sketch comedy and guest stars into a prime-time hit for all ages.” It stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, the Swedish Chef and more endearing characters.

Said guest stars include some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Steve Martin, Rita Moreno, Diana Ross, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Gladys Knight, Gene Kelly, Mark Hamill and many more stop by for some chaotic fun.
Everyone’s favorite amphibian, Kermit the Frog, made a statement today regarding The Muppet Show‘s move to Disney Plus.
It’s going to be great to welcome back longtime fans, and to give a new generation of fans a chance to see how we got our start, how Miss Piggy became a star and so much more. Today, I’m proud to say: ‘It’s time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!’ And as for Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony, I can only add: ‘Sorry, guys, but … here we go again.’
