Film studio 1091 announced today that it has acquired the worldwide digital and broadcast rights to upcoming cryptid documentary, The Mothman Legacy, which will premiere on digital streaming platforms this October. Just in time for Halloween! Originally the film was set to make it’s big debut in theaters during Mothman Festival in September. Unfortunately, as a result of COVID-19, the festival has canceled all screenings.

The Mothman Legacy will delve into the history of America’s most famous urban legend; the winged, red-eyed humanoid creature that terrorized the skies of rural West Virginia during the 1960’s. Many believe the Mothman’s presence was meant to be an omen as the sightings only ceased after the tragic Silver Bridge collapse in 1967. But what if the creature never left?

Through a series of interviews The Mothman Legacy discusses brand new sightings. And ponders whether the origins of this omen trace back much further or go much deeper than anyone realized.

“We couldn’t be happier to team with 1091 in the release of our latest Small Town Monsters film, The Mothman Legacy,” stated director Seth Breedlove, Small Town Monsters. “The crew and I believe we’ve created something truly unique with this project; a terrifying real-life horror story, and a case study on the roots of a modern myth. Featuring interviews with witnesses of the Mothman, alongside experts, authors and locals, this is a story that was begging to be told and we’re anxious to unveil this untold chapter in the mountain states monstrous past.”
