On Thursday, October 5, 2023, Marvel Studios released a new clip for the upcoming MCU movie, The Marvels. The new clip, subtitled “Fight,” teases the showdown between Carol “Captain Marvel” Danvers (Brie Larson) and Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton).

In addition to Carol, The Marvels will feature the return of Maria Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), aka Ms. Marvel. And along with being a sequel to Captain Marvel, WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, the movie is also a sequel to Secret Invasion, thanks to the return of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

Another cameo in the clip is the MCU’s updated version of the Statue of Liberty. The gleaming golden variant statue now holds the shield of Captain America aloft, rather than the torch that is more familiar in our world. This version of the statue served a major role in the third MCU Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In addition to scenes set on Earth, the clip promises plenty of adventures in the cosmic realm. This includes crowded battlefields and alien landscapes, plus what appears to be a group of possibly imprisoned Skrulls. And of course, while the battle the clip focuses on is between Carol and Dar-Benn, there are plenty of scenes of Kamala and Maria joining in on the fun. Finally, if you freeze the shot of the falling escape pod at the beginning of the clip, it appears that Flerken tentacles may be visible onboard.
