For lovers of all things Star Wars, the Force may be with you, thanks to Respawn. According to a new report from Insider Gaming, a game is being developed by Respawn that will allegedly have players taking on the role of a Mandalorian. Set during the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorian’s role will be to capture bounties — dead or alive.

Little is known about the game, but it is being created by the same EA studio behind Jedi: Survivor and Apex Legends. News was circulating in 2022 about Respawn making new Star Wars games, The Verge reported. This is the most recent update to a new game, beyond the Jedi series.

Still in early development, the game will be linear, focused on “mobility” and “style.” Here is what we know about the upcoming The Mandalorian video game.

Who Are the Mandalorians?

The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) from Disney+

The Mandalorians are natives of the Outer Rim planet Mandalore, which has been under continuous war for centuries. A society divided into Houses and Clans, its people fought both on Mandalore, turning it barren. By the Clone Wars, the remaining peaceful population lived in domed cities. Meanwhile, its armored warriors were exiled to the moon of Concordia.

Mandalorian soldiers are best known for their unique battle armor. It is both for defense and to show clan affiliation.

What Mandalorian Will You Become in the New Game?

Sorry, lovers of all things Pedro Pascal — it does not appear you can play as the Mandalorian from the Disney+ show in this game. Instead, the Insider Gaming report says you will take control of a Mandalorian bounty hunter, though I’m not sure which one.

What is known, however, is that the player will have access to weapons and gadgets, including a grappling hook, a wrist rocket and a visor for tagging enemies and bounties, Insider Gaming reports.

What Else Do We Know About the Upcoming Game?

Well, for one, we won’t be able to play for a while. At the very least, the game won’t be available for a year or two. Beyond the gadgets and gizmos listed above, there is one more exciting piece of tech coming to the game:

“The game’s high mobility has been made possible storytelling-wise thanks to the Mandalorian’s jetpack, which allows the player to perform horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, boost sliding (somewhat similar to sliding down hills in Apex Legends), and more,” Insider Gaming wrote.

This is not the only Star Wars game in the works. Ubisoft is currently working on Star Wars Outlaws, while Quantic Dream is making Star Wars EclipseHowever, it was Respawn that facilitated the new string of Star Wars games with the Jedi series, so they have the experience needed for this game.

Unfortunately, without Din Djarin, we likely won’t be getting Grogu.
