Earlier today, EW reported that there would be a major Star Wars spoiler in the first episode of The Mandalorian. Disney+ is not allowing any prescreening of the episode. Everyone gets to watch it at the same time on November 12th.
Also earlier, Star Wars‘ Twitter account teased that a new trailer would drop tonight. It did and oh boy! I thought it wasn’t possible to get more excited about the The Mandalorian, but I was so, so wrong.
The entire trailer is overdubbed with Werner Herzog’s character who is the big bad of the series. He asks, “Is the world more peaceful since the revolution?” He’s most likely alluding to what showrunner Jon Favreau said about the show. That the rebellion didn’t reach everyone at once namely the outer planets. Also, the building of the republic wasn’t necessarily managed well. Favreau has also said, it’s a place where only the strong survive and chaos rules.
While Herzog speaks, we see some familiar scenes from the first trailer. We also see scenes brought to life that we had only seen in still images. Herzog continues “It is a shame that your people suffered,” and we see Pedro Pascal put his Game of Thrones skills to work as the lone gunfighter in a fight with two Trandoshans.
“They said you were coming. They said you were the best in the parsec. Would you agree?” Herzog really brings the tension during the is trailer.
After the narration, the music swells and we are treated to more glimpses of stunning action, creatures, Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Greef Carga (Carl Weathers), Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), IG-88 and a little bit of love when a woman moves to take The Mandalorian’s helmet off but we don’t see a face reveal. We also get a glimpse at Bill Burr‘s character.
Then back to the narration where Herzog says, “Mandalorian, look outside. They are waiting for you.” And then, THEN, we hear The Mandalorian speak. I’ll let you watch the trailer for that!
Here’s the full narration:
Is the world more peaceful since the revolution? It is a shame that your people suffered. But bounty hunting is a complicated profession. They said you were coming. They said you were the best in the parsec. Would you agree? Mandalorian, look outside. They are waiting for you.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian, Gina Carano as Cara Dune, a former Rebel shocktrooper, and Carl Weathers as Greef Carga, the leader of a bounty hunter guild. It also stars Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, Taika Waititi, Bill Burr and Mark Boone Junior.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. “The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian debuts on Disney+ on November 12th, 2019.
