What once started as a Reylo fanfic has taken the romance book world by storm. And now Ali Hazelwood’s The Love Hypothesis is making its way to the big screen. Deadline dropped exclusive news that Elizabeth Cantillon and MRC Film’s romance label Bisous Pictures have partnered with Hazelwood. The novel was first published in September 2021 and has spent 39 weeks on The New York Times Best Sellers list.

The Love Hypothesis follows a third-year Ph.D. candidate by the name of Olive Smith, who doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships. But when she needs to convince her romance-loving best friend that she is in a relationship and well on her way to happiness. But scientists need more than just words; they need proof. And when nearly caught in her lie, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.

Too bad that man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and well-known jerk. But what is even more shocking is when Adam agrees to help Olive with her charade and play the best fake boyfriend on campus. But things get dangerously close to real; Olive learns that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting it under a microscope.

The Love Hypothesis is sweet and does a terrific job playing into the fake dating trope. Plus, it’s hard not to like a character who is described to look almost exactly like Adam Driver. In fact, this is our plea to cast him in the role. Alongside Daisy Ridley. Thanks, Bisous Pictures! Cantillon shared, “Bisous Pictures is thrilled to be working with Ali to amplify her voice and bring this magical book to the screen.”

There is no news as to how soon we can expect to see The Love Hypothesis hit the screen, but hopefully, it won’t be wrong. Currently, Bisous Pictures Persuasion starring Dakota Johnson, is airing on Netflix. They also have screen adaptations of Photos of You, 28 Summers and The Return in the works. If you haven’t had the chance to read the novel, we highly recommend checking it out.
