Critters, drop everything you are doing right now! Critical Role, Titmouse and Amazon Prime Video have generously gifted us the first trailer for the upcoming animated series The Legend of Vox Machina. I won’t lie to you; I watched this trailer about half a dozen times before even sitting down to write this up. If you fell in love with the bar brawl sequence and then the devious door one, I guarantee this trailer will have you drooling out the side of your mouth. It gives us absolutely everything we need from this series and then some. Plus, we get another look at the brooding bad guy we all love to hate, Sylas Briarwood (Matthew Mercer) and his terrifyingly elegant wife Delilah (Grey Griffin).

The trailer also happens to be a red band one and for good reason. It doesn’t hold back on the violence, even dropping a literal rock onto a mercenary in the first few seconds. This was always something I loved about the live-action game and I am happy that they are keeping up with it in the series. Aside from the action, we also get quite a lot of quick, witty moments between the group, a good look at the big baddies and so much more. What also stuck out is how Lady Kima didn’t recognize the group, which leads me to believe that they will ignore the first arc of the live-action series.

The Legend of Vox Machina follows the band of mercenaries made up of Grog (Travis Willingham), twins Vax (Liam O’Brien) and Vex (Laura Bailey), Scanlan (Sam Riegel), Pike (Ashely Johnson), Percy (Taliesin Jaffe) and Keyleth (Marisha Ray). Critters will recognize quite a bit of fun little tidbits throughout the trailer like the famous troll dick, Percy’s Bad News, Trinket, a playful game of ball tag and so much more. Even the side comments made throughout the trailer remind me of the funny table chatter that can be found throughout each of the campaigns.

I’ve been waiting a long time for this to hit Amazon Prime Video and have been rewatching every bit I can in preparation. This new trailer is guaranteed to keep me occupied until it releases later this month. What started as a simple Kickstarter to produce a 22-minute animated short quickly raised enough money for 10 full-length episodes. When Amazon Prime Video took over, they upped that to two full seasons with 12 episodes each—giving us a grand total of 24 episodes filled to the brim with Vox Machina-filled antics, lore and action.

The Legend of Vox Machina is set to drop its first three episodes on Amazon Prime Video starting January 28, 2022, and then three episodes a piece every week afterward until the end of season one. If you want to catch up on the campaign, all of the episodes are available on Critical Role‘s YouTube channel. We’ve dropped the trailer below, along with some images from the series, for your enjoyment. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
