The Legend of Vox Machina

We are just eight days away from the release of Critical Role‘s animated adaptation, The Legend of Vox Machina, on Amazon Prime. Up until today, the only casting we knew for sure was that the original crew of the campaign was returning to their roles and Matthew Mercer was taking on the villain Sylas Briarwood. Who would be filling the shoes of all the additional NPCs (nonplayable characters) has been up for speculation from the beginning. And now that speculation is over and I can’t stop fangirling about who they got to step into these roles.

Critical Role took to YouTube to share a video showcasing the additional cast coming to the first season of The Legend of Vox Machina alongside Mercer, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Sam Riegel, Marisha Ray, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson and Liam O’Brien. The first character, and by far one of my favorite, was Shaun Gilmore. The fiesty and suave magical vendor has become a beloved character within the community and will be voiced by Sunil Malhotra. And speaking of beloved characters, we also learned that Indira Varma is voicing Lady Allura Vysoren and Lady Kima of Vord is being voiced by Stephanie Beatriz.

Alongside these fantastic voice actors, we will also see Felicia Day (multiple roles), Khary Payton (Sovereign Uriel), Bobby Hall aka Logic (palace guard), Eugene Byrd (Captain Jarett), David Tennant (General Krieg), Tony Hale (Sir Fince), Anjali Bhimani (head cleric), Mason Alexander Park (fan-created tavern keeper), Tracie Thoms (The Everlight), Max Mittleman (Desmond) and Stacey Raymond (Bryn).

In the Whitestone side of the story, we see Esmé Creed-Miles (Cassandra De Rolo), Gina Torres (Keeper Yennen), Dominic Monaghan (Archibald Desnay), Stephen Root (Professor Anders), Rory McCann (Duke Vedmire), Kelly Hu (Anna Ripley), Grey Griffin (Delilah Briarwood) and Darin De Paul (Stonefell). Go ahead, take a moment to freak out. We need one too. Who would have expected to see such an amazing cast bring these characters to life? I mean, they got David Tennant!

The Legend of Vox Machina will be hitting Amazon Prime starting on January 28, 2022, with the first three episodes. It will continue to drop three episodes a week until the end of season one. We’ve dropped the announcement video below so you can see the reactions of the cast as they go through the complete cast list. Who are you most excited to see?
