THE LAST JEDI International Trailer Gives Us a Glimpse at Canto Bight

Erin Lynch

There has been an awakening, can you feel it? The Last Jedi has brought on an insatiable fever pitch that only Star Wars fandom can do. So much so that looking at this international trailer has given me excitement at 5 seconds of new footage. Let’s look at this trailer.

The opening gives us a quick visual recap of the first film in this trilogy, The Force Awakens. It goes over how Rey (Daisy Ridley) is powerful with the Force and ends with Snoke (Andy Serkis) telling Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to bring her to him, alluding to that happening in the next film. From there, we get what is essentially the same trailer as previously released.

What’s different is a bit more footage from a few scenes. For one, we have a scene on Canto Bight, a first for the trailers. The large (what I’m going to describe as dog-deer-horses) beasts are being ridden on rooftops in the “poor” side of town. We’re going to guess that the main rider is Finn (John Boyega) and it’s currently unclear if Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) is there as well. One breaks a casino window, causing patrons to flee. We cut to a lot of the dog-deer-horses running through the casino floor, knocking everything over in their paths.

We also get a little bit more on Crait. The Resistance is being pinned down by heavy fire from the First Order. And in case you were worried – we have official trenches, people! We had seen in the behind the scenes that Poe (Oscar Isaac) slid his way into one. But it looks like fighters are down there trying to fend off aerial and ground attacks. It looks positively epic but very bad for our wounded Resistance.

Frankly, I’m just even more psyched for this film. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news.

Rey develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order.
