Hellfire Club

Meet Reeva Payge (Grace Byers).  Reeva is a member of the Hellfire Club. The club meets to discuss the events in Atlanta.  Apparently, Reeva sent the Frost triplets (Skyler Samuels) to infiltrate the Mutant Underground.  Reeva defends her actions by reminding the Club that they all want the same thing. Peace, Freedom and Safety.  In order to get all of these things, they will need a place of their own. They have mutants who are strong enough to make their dream a reality.

William (Ray Campbell), a Club member says the Mutant Homeland project has been discontinued.  He is concerned about the mutants that Reeva brought in. Reeva reminds him that one of them is a Von Strucker, the creators of the Hellfire Club.  William say she acted without authorization from the Club. Reeva appears to accept that she messed up. She says it’s better to ask for forgiveness. Reeva takes a deep breath and opens her mouth. Her voice incapacitates the entire table.  The Frosts begin shooting the club members, leaving William for last. Reeva approaches him and asks for forgiveness before a Frostie shoots him.

Polaris look out the window at the D.C. skyline, thinking of Marcos.  Andy approaches her, saying they are ready to go.  Polaris says he doesn’t have to go with her.  She looks sad, so Andy asks what’s wrong. She says she always dreamt that when she gave birth, she would be with family. Andy says they are her family now. Reeva and the triplets retrieve them both and they leave.

Sentinel Services is still at it, this time raiding an apartment complex in Washington D. C.  Reed Strucker (Stephen Moyer) hears about the raid on the police scanner and calls John Proudstar/Thunderbird (Blair Redford) to head to the complex. John grabs Marcos and they head out.  Clarice Fong/Blink (Jamie Chung) and Lauren Strucker (Natalie Alyn Lind) also head that way.  Clarice opens a portal so everyone can get out.  Lauren uses her power to hold the door until all of the people get through the portal.

The survivors are taken to a mutant friendly clinic where Caitlin (Amy Acker) patches them up. After the clinic clears out, Caitlin enters a closet that leads to a secret door.  Reed is in the secret room, making new IDs for the people that they rescued.  Caitlin says she asked about the mutants at the complex, hoping to hear something about Andy.  They have been searching for him since Atlanta. John tracked Andy and Polaris to Washington D. C.  And then they lost the trail.

Andy is currently with Polaris.  Reeva and the Frost sisters take them to a munitions warehouse. They will convert the warehouse for Polaris to give birth.  Polaris has a cramp that causes the cars to move.  She says it was just the baby kicking.

The Mutant Underground, or what’s left of them, meet to discuss the raid. Reed has made new IDs for everyone and arranged transport out of the city.  Lauren tells the group about the young girl who needs help finding her sister.  They think they can track her down.  Marcos says he talked to a hacker named Wire, but they are dangerous men.  John doesn’t like it and wants to wait to use them.

Reeva checks on her, worried about her state of mind.  Polaris says she’s lonely. Reeva tries to empathize, but Polaris has heard too much about Reeva to believe her.  Reeva defends herself saying she will make any sacrifices necessary to build the world they want to live in.  But she needs Polaris to do that.

The Frost sisters and Sage (Hayley Lovitt) go to the boss at the munition warehouse and offer a lot of money to the owner.  They ask him to clear the building immediately. He refuses. The Frost sisters remind him that they can make him do whatever they want.  It would be smarter for him to take the cash.  It’s not long before men are moving things out of the building.

John and Clarice let the girl stay with them. They offer her food, but she’s too worried about her sister to eat.  Clarice assures her that John can find anybody.  The girl goes to bed and Clarice voices her concerns about Marcos. She says the closer Polaris gets to her due date, the more irrational Marcos becomes.  John says he will talk to him.

Reed returns home to Lauren and Caitlin.  He says everyone made it through the checkpoints safely.  He hears a high pitch ringing in his ears while Lauren talks to him.  She’s saying something about working at the shelters. Reed suggests she get a real job, but Caitlin says no. Most of the information they get comes from the shelters. Reed and Caitlin start arguing about Lauren’s job status and she stops them.  She leaves them to be alone.

Lauren leaves the apartment and goes to a building downtown. She goes to the rooftop where Andy is waiting for her. They are happy to see each other and hold hands while they talk.  Andy activates their power and Lauren tries to pull away. Andy says it’s what they do. He holds on tighter, hurting her hand. Their power increases as Lauren tries to pull away.  Andy won’t let her go.  Lauren wakes up from her dream screaming.

Caitlin sits with Lauren asking about her dream.  Reed stops her because she is asking questions about Andy’s whereabouts.  Caitlin thinks that Lauren and Andy’s combined power could lead them to him. Lauren says it wasn’t Andy in her dream.  Caitlin stops asking questions and gets up to get water for Lauren.  While she’s in the kitchen, Caitlin calls Marcos. She doesn’t want to wait anymore. She wants to talk to the hacker.

Polaris watches as men construct a polyglass room for her to give birth in.  The doctor says she needs to rest.  Reeva tells Andy to take Polaris back to HQ.  Lorna agrees and as they are leaving, she asks Andy to protect her baby at all costs.  She says if anything goes wrong, Reeva will chose her over the baby.

John gives Clarice contacts to make her eyes look normal. She tells him that she can’t use her portals with the contacts in.  She can’t see the portals.  They need her to look human so they can search for for the missing girl without any suspicion.  She asks John if he talked to Marcos yet.  He hasn’t but promises he will talk to him that day.

Marcos and Caitlin meet with Wire (Brad Carter).  Wire is a mutant who can manipulate the web.  He says he couldn’t find anything on the Hellfire Club.  Wire pulls a gun on them, demanding all of their money. He says the Hellfire Club has a lot of money.  Money they might trade for Caitlin and Marcos. Caitlin lunges at Wire, taking the gun, but Wire shoots the gun at the same time. He grazes Caitlin with the bullet. She holds the gun to his head and demands the information he has on the Hellfire Club.

Wire sends his guys away and shows them what he found.  The Hellfire Club is now the Inner Circle.  They have several secret bank accounts around the world with a lot of money.  Caitlin says they don’t care about the money, they want to find the people.  Wire informs her that the Inner Circle uses the money to keep from being found.  And anyone that tries to find them, disappears. He says they have big plans and he’s not getting in the way. He gives them a flash drive with all of the information he found.

Clarice tells the young girl that John tracked her sister to a bus station.  He said it appears that she got picked up, but they don’t know who has her. They hope it was one of their people. The girl gets upset and starts to leave.  Clarice tells her they will reach out to their contacts to find her.

Marcos brings Caitlin to the apartment and everyone turns their attention on an injured Caitlin.  Marcos tells John about their visit with Wire. John is upset that they went without telling anyone. Marcos says they got information. John is more concerned about Caitlin.

Reed is at the clinic, taking some kind of pill when John calls him.  John tells him to grab some medical supplies and head home. Caitlin is hurt. As John is telling him what happened, Reed hears the ringing again.  He holds his right arm as something boils underneath the skin.  Reed has powers.  He fights to push them back.

Labor of Love

Andy waits with Polaris at the Inner Circle HQ.  They start discussing baby names when she gets a tremor.  Polaris sends Andy to get the doctor. She is in labor.  They take her to the special delivery room.  Reeva, the triplets, Andy and the doctor prepare for Polaris to give birth. She immediately starts screaming from the contractions and metal starts flying towards them.

Back at the apartment, Reed is upset with Caitlin for going to meet with the hackers.  She says she will do whatever it takes to find Andy.  She reminds Reed that Andy  was taken from them. Lauren corrects her. Andy wasn’t taken, he left.  Caitlin refuses to believe that Andy left  on his own, saying he’s just a kid who doesn’t know what he’s doing. Laurn disagrees. Andy isn’t a kid anymore. He knew what he was doing. He wasn’t kidnapped, he left them. Reed agrees with Lauren.

Marcos looks over the information on the flash drive when the power goes out. He notices the lights flickering and looks outside. The city’s power is chaotic. Marcos knows it is being caused by Polaris, but he doesn’t know that she is in labor.

Caitlin says she doesn’t know why Lauren is dismissing Andy like that. Reed tells her that Lauren is right.  They have been so focused on the search that they are blinded. They forget other issues to consider. He sits down to tell her about his powers.  Marcos bursts in and tells them to get to the roof ASAP.

Everyone runs to the roof and sees the electricity show.  Marcos says it’s Polaris. He knows her power. Only she could cause this storm.  Caitlin suggests that Polaris is in labor and that is what causing the electrical storm.  They get John and Clarice and leave the apartments.  John tracks the electricity through the power lines.  Everything is head towards the same location.

Meanwhile the doctor tells Reeva that Polaris is not dilated. Her blood pressure is rising and she could die if they don’t do something soon.  He says there is a mental block that is keeping Polaris from delivering. Reeva confers with the Frost sisters then approaches Polaris.  Andy steps in front of them, asking what they plan to do to her.  Reeva says Lorna needs to be reminded of what they are fighting for.  It takes some convincing, but Andy steps aside.  Reeva tells Polaris that she needs to see the world they want to live in.

The Frost sisters show her a peaceful world for mutants.  Polaris is standing side by side with Reeva, the Frost sisters and Andy. They are in a crowd of mutants who are cheering for them. Polaris sees her daughter and hugs her. When Polaris comes out of the vision, Reeva says that world is for her child.  Lorna bares down and pushes.  All of the metal around the building is pulled inside, but the plexiglass stops it from entering the room.

A street lamp falls in the road, blocking John and Reed’s cars.  John reaches out with his powers to find the power signal, but it’s gone. The power is out all over the city. Marcos wonders if this means that Polaris is dead. He is worried and falls to his knees as his hands light up.

At the warehouse Polaris holds her daughter, Dawn.

Thoughts

This is a time jump that I enjoyed. It could have been pretty boring to watch the Struckers search for Andy the entire season. I’m sure it won’t be long before they find him.  But we need to see some results sooner than later.

After Andy learned about his ancestors, there’s no way he would stay home. He knows he’s descended from greatness. Who wouldn’t want to explore that? Andy used to be bullied in school. And now he has the power to fight back.  I know he misses his family, but he is going through something his mother can never understand or protect him from.  The sooner Caitlin realizes that, the sooner Andy will come home

I’m so excited to see what’s in store. As an X-Men fan, I always liked the battles between mutants. I just hope we don’t have a lot of casualties at the end of it all.  Strap in, it looks like we’re in for an action packed season 2!
