The Game Awards 2019: SENUA’S SAGA: HELLBLADE II Storms in With Xbox Series X

During last night’s The Game Awards, we experienced several world premieres for upcoming video games. Following the reveal of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft showed off the upcoming Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. All footage from the trailer was pulled to help show off exactly what we are going to expect from the next generation console and the newest game.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel to Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua Sacrafice. The trailer shows off a dark and grim tone to match the original game and still manages to draw us in the the chanting and imagery. If they hadn’t told us that the trailer footage was captured from the game engine, I would have thought that this was not done on a game engine.

We don’t know much right now about the upcoming game but I am sure it will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor. The trailer makes us believe this will be a dark fantasy action adventure game and hopefully include some new mechanics made possible thanks to the new game engine. With Microsoft’s purchase of Ninja Theory, this will be an Xbox Series X exclusive, but hopefully we will see a version for PC either at launch or soon after.

No release date has been announced for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II but a good guess would be sometime during the next holiday season when the Xbox Series X is released. We have a quite a few months and several more game shows to get sneak peaks at in game content and updates to in game mechanics. Follow Ninja Theory’s twitter for upcoming announcements and gameplay trailers.
