THE FLASH Season 9 Trailer Reveals Trouble in Paradise for Barry Allen

The final season of The Flash is upon us. Based on the latest trailer, it looks like West-Allen family future is in jeopardy. There are also some faces we haven’t seen in a while in this trailer.

I can already tell that this is going to be an emotional season. This trailer starts off with Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) telling Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) how proud he is of him. Considering this was Martin’s final season anyway, I expected a lot of Papa West moments where he tells the kids that they’ve done well.

Things get a little rocky from here. Barry has been scrapbooking, sort of. He created a map book of his and Iris’ (Candice Patton) future. He is pinpointing when things in their life will happen. Starting with the revelation that Iris will be pregnant in three months. Unlike most expecting parents, Barry and Iris have the advantage to know when their children will be born, what their names are, and what they look like as adults. And for Iris, that takes some of the joy out of the experience.

And then we get the overall issue of the season. There is a new speedster and they want to build a time machine. As Flash fans know, any time you mess with the timeline, chaos ensues. This is when we see past villains and friends appear. Things are changing and it’s not only threatening the Flash’s future, but the whole world.

Mark Blaine, aka Chillblaine (Jon Cor) was upgraded to series regular for the final season and is still mourning the loss of Frost (Danielle Panabaker). At the end of season eight, Mark and Caitlin Snow (Panabaker) were trying to find a way to bring Frost back to life, even after Barry convinced Caitlin to let Frost go. It appears Caitlin decides that Barry was right. That leaves Mark lonely and depressed.

We know a new group The Rogues. In the trailer we see an individual that Collider revealed as the new Captain Boomerang, played by Richard Harmon. Is he a part of this new group? And we saw Andy Mientus return as Hartley Rathaway/Pied Piper.I’m sure there will be more familiar faces in this final season. Wally West/Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), John Diggle (David Ramsey), Dr. Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy) have already been announced to return. Super friends Ryan Wilder/Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) and Nia Nal/Dreamer (Nicole Maines) will also appear in the final season. I’m sure there will be more, but no word on Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) or any of the versions of Wells (Tom Cavanagh).

The Flash also stars Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, and Brandon McKnight. Check out the trailer and let us know if you spot any other familiar faces.
