The Flash season four has started off with new beginnings for almost everyone. Cecile dropped the bomb that she is pregnant with Joe’s baby. Wally left Central City. And Team Flash encountered two new metas. They were able to piece together that someone created the Samuroid to bring back The Flash. Team Flash had to open the Speed Force, releasing dark matter on Central City. A bus load of people were exposed to the dark matter. And there you have it…12 new metas! Who’s next? And are they all bad?
The last time Gypsy came to Central City, she wasn’t too happy with Cisco. With Caitlin’s help, Cisco was able to smooth things over. Making Gypsy happy is the least of Cisco’s troubles.

This week, in the “Elongated Journey Into Night”, Cisco is being hunted and Barry gets help from an “ehem” old friend on a case.
The first thing you need to know about Breacher (Danny Trejo), is that no one is good enough for his little girl, Gypsy (Jessica Camacho). Not even another breacher like Cisco (Carlos Valdes). Breacher pays Cisco a visit on a night when Cisco and Gypsy are getting very close.
It’s election season in Central City. Mayor Bellows (Vito D’Ambrosio) is addressing the CCPD when Barry arrived to work. Barry has a lead on the meta bus. Twelve meta-humans were created when Barry left the speed force. They found Kilg%re and Hazard. However, over 900 people rode the bus that day and the bus driver is dead. So finding the other ten metas is going to take a while. And Joe (Jesse L. Martin) is acting really weird! Barry says he’s glowing.

Barry and Joe meet Breacher at STAR Labs. Cisco introduces Breacher to Harry (Tom Cavanagh), who looks familiar to Breacher…I wonder why? Barry and Joe give Breacher a tour of the facility. Harry tells Cisco to use what they have in common (ridiculous hair) to bond with Breacher…their love for Gypsy.
Iris (Candice Patton) pulls the coroner’s report for the bus driver. He drowned in his own bathroom, but there’s no sign of foul play. They do find a business card from Ralph Dibny. Joe and Barry are both uneasy about Ralph. They tell Iris and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) that Ralph was kicked off the force, but they don’t say why. They think Ralph was on the bus, so Joe and Barry leave to interview him.
Ralph is pretty sketchy. He is working as a private investigator. He doesn’t have much to say to Barry and Joe. Ralph says he wasn’t on the bus. Barry and Joe leave and two mobsters enter. They dangle Ralph from the roof and funny thing happens. Ralph’s legs start to grow. Joe and Barry witness Ralph descend from the roof and see his elongated legs hit the ground. Yep. He was on the bus.
They take him to STAR Labs for examination. His legs have not retracted and everyone is freaking out. Caitlin grabs his arm to get a blood sample and stretches it out. In the process of freaking out, she accidentally hits a bottle of powder, releasing it in Ralph’s face, causing him to sneeze. Ralph’s face stretches out all weird like. Joe is so grossed out, he throws up.

Cisco takes Breacher to Jitters for coffee with Gypsy. Gypsy tells Breacher that she really likes Cisco. She wants them to get along. He tells her he will do anything for her. Everything seems to be going okay until Gypsy leaves the two men alone. Cisco tries to tell Breacher that Gypsy is very important to him. Breacher replies that he’s going to hunt Cisco for 24 hours. Cisco isn’t worthy. He has 10 seconds to run and he can’t use his powers. Cisco makes his way to STAR labs through the vents and Harry catches him. Cisco tells him about Breacher hunting him. Harry tells Cisco to set a trap for Breacher to beat him at his own game.
Caitlin is determined to help Ralph figure out his powers. She needs a sample of Ralph’s DNA before the bus incident. Barry wants to lock him up. I’ve never seen Barry not like someone so much. Barry believes that everyone on that bus is dangerous, therefore, they are all villains. Caitlin defends Ralph saying that when she turned bad, Barry didn’t give up on her. Iris suggests that they get the DNA sample Caitlin needs to stabilize Ralph. Caitlin gives Ralph a potion that puts him back to normal. She explains that the potion helps his muscles to remember their shape so he can control his powers.
Barry and Iris go to Ralph’s office and someone has torn through it. He is sure that the guys who hung Ralph off the roof probably ransacked it. Barry tells Iris why he doesn’t like Ralph. Ralph planted evidence on the first case that Barry worked on. Barry figured it out and exposed him. Ralph was kicked off the force for tampering with evidence and lying under oath. Iris finds a hairbrush with Ralph’s hair and a bomb. Barry is able to get them out of the office before it explodes.
Iris delivers the hairbrush to Caitlin. Barry doesn’t understand why Caitlin wants to help him. She say it’s because she knows what Ralph is going through. So does Barry. They both woke up in that lab with powers they didn’t understand. So Barry should be more sympathetic. It’s too bad that Joe enters with news that Ralph had several phone calls with Mayor Bellows recently.
Barry confronts Ralph asks why he’s talking to the mayor. Ralph deflects the question. Barry says they will talk to the mayor instead. Joe and Barry meet with Mayor Bellows. Even Mayor Bellows recognizes that Joe is glowing. The mayor tries to talk around Joe’s questions about Ralph Dibny. Joe reassures the mayor that he can talk to them. Mayor Bellows admits that he had an affair and Ralph is blackmailing him with pictures. Barry says they will take care of Ralph. The mayor leaves and meets with the two mobsters from Ralph’s office. He tells them to kill Ralph, Joe, and Barry.

At the lab, Barry confronts Ralph about blackmailing the mayor. Ralph says he wouldn’t have to blackmail him if Barry hadn’t cost him his police job. Barry reminds Ralph that he tampered with evidence. Ralph says he lost everything because of Barry. Barry tries to stop him from leaving and punches Ralph. His hand gets stuck in Ralph’s face. After he pulls his fist out, Ralph thanks Barry for ruining his life again and leaves.
Barry and Joe share a few beers and talk about Ralph. Barry questions if he really did ruin Ralph’s life. Joes reassures him that those were Ralph’s choices, but maybe Caitlin is right. Maybe Ralph deserves a second chance. Two cops show up and tell them to go to the station. Barry leaves to get his coat and the cops pull their guns. They shoot at Joe and Barry, but Barry is the Flash. Barry stops the bullets and sets up the cops to knock each other out. These two cops work for the mayor. The Mayor is going after Ralph.
Cisco creates a hologram of himself to trap Breacher in a force field. Cisco’s plan to was to keep him in the force field until the 24 hours was up. Breacher pulls out a huge knife that cuts through the force field. Run Cisco! Run! Breacher searches the lab for Cisco and sees a video of Ralph in his elongated state. He calls him Plastoid. He says Plastoid destroyed his planet and now he’s going to kill him.
Cisco comes out of hiding and Barry calls him for Ralph’s location. Ralph is at City Hall to meet with the mayor. Mayor Bellows gives Ralph the money, but Ralph says he doesn’t want it. He takes back his blackmail and if the mayor doesn’t walk away, he will tell the cops about the bomb. I know…it makes no sense. Mayor Bellows shoots Ralph, but the bullet bounces out of Ralph’s nose. The Flash arrives and removes the gun from the mayor’s hands. Breacher arrives and attacks The Flash and Ralph, thinking that Ralph is Plastoid. Mayor Bellows grabs his gun and runs for the City Hall door. Joe is coming out of the door, so the mayor points the gun at Joe and takes him hostage.

Breacher is about to kill Ralph, but Cisco stops him. He tells Breacher that Ralph is not Plastoid and to back off. Breacher stops and they are presented with a new problem. Mayor Bellows took off with Joe in a helicopter. The Flash says it’s too late for him to gain enough speed to get to the helicopter. Cisco says he can’t breach The Flash, because the event horizon would rip the helicopter apart. They only have one option. Ralph.
The Flash tries to convince Ralph to help him, but Ralph has no confidence in himself. Barry removes his hood. He tells Ralph to prove that he’s a good cop. Ralph stretches his arm and grabs the chopper. The Flash runs up Ralph’s arm, grabs the gun, and stops the mayor. Joe blurts out that Cecile is pregnant.
Back at the lab, Joe celebrates with Iris, Caitlin and Barry. Cisco says goodbye to Gypsy and Breacher. Breacher still doesn’t like him, but he has learned to respect him. He knows Cisco will do anything to protect Gypsy. On their way out, Breacher..aka Josh…calls Gypsy by her real name…Cynthia. Cisco is amused.
Caitlin goes home and finds a metal hook outside her door. Someone used it to etch a message on her door. “We miss you. Come back soon.”
Thoughts…
Cisco being hunted by Danny Trejo was hilarious. I wish we would see more of Vibe. He’s got a cool meta-power that is not utilized enough.
And Caitlin. We knew she was involved with a bad crowd, but just how bad are they? I guess we’ll find out very soon. I know I’m excited!
