Iris is amused on the Flash

Time is definitely not on the side of The Flash. In “Partners in Time,” Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) experience a strange time anomaly during a routine mold inspection. Chester (Brandon McKnight) and Allegra (Kayla Compton) hit an awkward speed bump in their relationship.

In the future a thief enters the Flash museum and almost gets caught.  Back in 2023, Barry is preparing for Nora’s arrival by building a purple and yellow crib. He also stocked the freezer with Nora’s favorite ice cream. The baby won’t be born for another seven months. Meanwhile, Iris is having all kinds of cravings. Ever  since Iris discovered that she’s pregnant, some really strange things have been happening to her. The dream trap last week. And this week is just as overwhelming.

Speaking of overwhelming, Dr. Carla Tannhauser (Susan Walters) called Khione (Danielle Panabaker) and asked to meet her. Khione is concerned because she doesn’t know anything about Carla except that she’s Caitlin’s mother. She’s worried that Carla wants to be her mother too.

Barry scheduled a mold inspection at STAR labs, so that … in seven months … the lab will be safe for Nora to enter. Calling a mold inspector also prompted other inspectors to check the place out.  Turns out that STAR labs is lagging in it’s inspections. The last one was before the particle accelerator exploded.

Barry gives Chester and Allegra the day off. They spend it playing Scrabble. Chester praises Allegra for her tricky Scrabble skills and tells her that he loves her. Allegra doesn’t reply and almost looks disgusted. Luckily, Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) arrives, saving Allegra from an awkward conversation with Chuck.

The trio start up another game. After the first game, Cecile tries to leave the lovebirds alone, but Allegra stops her. Chester gets up and leaves instead.  Allegra tells Cecile what happened. She is very much in love with Chester but, she’s afraid to say it. Everyone who she loves ends up leaving her and she doesn’t want to  lose Chester. Cecile reassures Allegra that Chester is crazy about her and she can’t live her life afraid of love.

Iris shows up, with a bowl of Cecile’s casserole. She helps Barry talk to the inspectors when they ask about anything to do with the Flash. The lead inspector, Inspector Howard (Peter Kelamis) is a no nonsense kind of guy who asks a lot of questions. While inspecting the speed lab, the electrician Inspector Tao (Diana Bang) asks for the room where all of the electrical stuff. You know, the breaker box.  Weird question.

Barry and Iris lead the inspectors to the breaker box, only to end up back in the speed lab.  They assume they took a wrong turn and leave again. Once again, they end up in the speed lab. If this is a prank, its not funny.  Barry freaks out a little bit then thinks he can run to the future to find out how they get out of the speed lab. While he’s gone, a strange light flows through the room, changing everyone’s clothes. Everyone is wearing clothes from different time periods. When Barry returns, he’s wearing a space suit, similar to the Star Trek uniforms.

No one can explain what is happening. Eventually, Barry has to tell the inspectors that he is the Flash, so they will trust him.  Most of the inspectors are impressed and want to study him.  But first they have to get out of the speed lab. After a bit of discussion, they realize that they are stuck in a moment in time.  A time magnet is also pulling items from different moments in time though.

Iris uses her investigation skills to determine that whoever brought the time magnet forgot to bring the stabilizer because they were stealing the magnet and had to make a quick get away. The only way to find the thief is to scan everyone for radiation.  Everyone checks out except for Inspector Howard. Before Iris can scan him, he freaks out, grabs his head and is vaporized.  When the glitter clears, the statue of David remains.

Inspector Tao blames Iris for the lead inspector’s disappearance. The others get scared, so Barry and Iris have to figure out what’s going on before they do something rash. They retreat to a quiet corner and Iris admits her fears about having the baby. She’s afraid she won’t be able to do the things she used to do. She can feel her body changing and starts to cry.  Iris is most sad about her forgetfulness, or pregnancy brain.

After comforting Iris, Barry realizes who the thief is.  They return to the inspectors and say they may have a solution. It’s possible the speed lab is flooded with temporal particles. They can become volatile when exposed to electrical fields. He says the electrical wiring is probably faulty, including the check valves. They are so glad Inspector Tao is there to check the valves. They ask her where to start. She says she will check the red wires and then … Barry corrects her and says the check valves are for waterflow, not electricity.

Inspector Tao denies it at first, but Barry calls her out for not knowing what a breaker box is.  Tao transforms into black outfit and her face is painted white. Her real name is Lady Chronos and she is a time traveling thief from the future. She wears a chronobelt that allows her to jump through time.

Lady Chronos attempted to steal the time magnet in the future, but tripped the alarm and was trapped in the Flash museum. She used her chronobelt to escape to the date of the inspection. She knocked out the real electrician and took his place to get inside of STAR Labs. Once inside, she traveled back to the future, stole the time magnet, and returned to 2023 … without the stabilizer. Now Lady Chronis is threatening Iris’ life if the Flash doesn’t get her out.  If they can’t get out, they will all die.

Barry tells her to take the time magnet back to the future. Lady Chronos doesn’t want to give up the magnet because its worth  a lot of money. And her chronobelt isn’t charged. The only way they all survive is to reunite the magnet with its stabilizer. And luckily, Barry has the power to charge the belt.  Lady Chronos knows she is the next to die. She gives the chronobelt to Barry and returns to the future. Another wave of energy flows through the room. Barry and Iris are back in their old clothes and the inspection team has just arrived.
