We’ve always known The Flash would disappear one day. Is it finally happening? In “A New World, Part Two,” Iris(Candice Patton) and the team deal with Barry’s (Grant Gustin) disappearance, as Khione (Danielle Panabaker) discovers more about her powers.
Last week, Barry disappeared, courtesy of the Negative Speed Force trying to destroy the life that Barry built for himself. So how did Iris and the team handle Barry’s disappearance? And what’s the story with the Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) doppelganger?
The Eddie Thawne doppelganger was hit by a bolt of lightning last week and found a file about Eddie Thawne. He makes his way to CCPD to report the accident and ask about Eddie. His name is Dr. Malcolm Gilmore and the more answers he finds, the more he’s confused. Captain Daisy Korber (Stephanie Izsak) tries to help him, but Gilmore just gets frustrated. He hears the strange voice telling him to “find her.” And to make things worse, he starts seeing visions of Eddie’s life. Throughout the episode, Gilmore sees more and more of Eddie’s life and he also sees Iris. He sets out to find Iris to ask her about Eddie’s death.

TEAM WEST
Iris is very worried about Barry. He’s been gone for six hours and there is no trace of him on the STAR Lab satellites. Chester (Brandon McKnight) did find a trace of cobalt radiation in the West-Allen loft. Mark Blaine (Jon Cor) returns to help the team find Barry. They split up to cover more ground.
Iris starts to get sad, thinking her worst fear is coming true. Barry disappears just before Nora is born. It’s the same in adult Nora’s timeline. She didn’t grow up with her father and now Iris is scared it’s happening in this timeline. Allegra (Kayla Compton) tries to cheer up Iris and offers to get her some tea.
When Allegra leaves, she runs into someone she knows, or so she thinks. That familiar face blasts Allegra with a blue lightning, causing her to hit a gas pipe in the building. The gas leaks into the Citizen offices. Iris tries to help, but is chased back into her office where she calls for help. Khione (Danielle Panabaker) and Mark arrive and find the Citizen staff unconscious. Khione saves them by inserting plant cells into their bodies and turning them green. When the staff wakes up, they are freaked out and run away from Khione. Iris emerges from her office and they find Allegra unconscious.

FRENEMY
Gideon finds traces of cobalt radiation in Allegra, which means whoever took Barry is now attacking the team. Mark asks Khione if he can cure Allegra’s condition. She says she can only extract the unnatural. The cobalt isotope is part of the natural world, so no. Mark suggests that Iris stay in the time vault while they lock down the lab. Chester is resetting the satellites to scan for cobalt radiation.
Things are a little awkward between Mark and Khione. He says he needed the space to accept his grief. Khione doesn’t really understand why he couldn’t talk to her. Mark gets angry with her and says she changed. He thought there was something special about her, but she scared him when she turned the Citizen staff green. He calls her an abomination. Khione gets upset and leaves. That’s when Mark’s eyes glow blue.
Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) sits with Iris in the time vault. Iris is still upset, thinking that Barry won’t come home. She spent a lot of time planning for Nora’s arrival. Just when things get good, something bad always follows. Cecile promises that Barry will come home.

Mark shows up in Chester’s lab. He says that Khione felt like a monster after what happened at the Citizen so she ran away. He feels like he lost Frost all over again. Mark says he wishes he got the chance to tell Frost one last time that he loved her before she passed. Seeing Mark cry makes Chester want to rush to Allegra’s side. Mark offers to recalibrate the scanners for cobalt radiation so Chester can go. Chester takes him up on his offer and leaves the lab. Mark immediately disengages the satellites.
PROTECT THE LIGHTNING ROD
Gilmore wanders around Central City, yelling at the voice and starts remembering Iris. He goes to the Citizen to look for Iris and is caught breaking into her office. He looks through her files for anything on Eddie Thawne’s death. When he sees a picture of Joe (Jesse L. Martin), he starts to remember how Eddie died. Gilmore runs out of the Citizen just as security gets there.
Mark radios Cecile and Iris saying he got them some food. Cecile leaves to get the food. As soon as she leaves the time vault, Iris hears her hit the floor. She leaves the vault and finds Mark standing over her and Cecile. Mark reveals that he is the Negative Speed Force and he’s there to kill Iris and her baby. He aims at Iris and the Speed Force, aka Nora (Michelle Harrison) stops him with a lightning bolt. Nora is hurt. She can’t stay in this plane of existence. Mark vows to finish the job once Nora disappears.

Nora tells the team that Mark is not the avatar, but is possessed by the Negative Speed Force. As for Barry, she can’t detect him. The other negative forces are attacking her on the cosmic plane, causing her powers to weaken. The only person who can help them right now is Khione.
EMBRACE THE POWER
Iris records a message for Barry. She says no matter what, the love they share and the connection they have can never be broken. They will never stop fighting for each other. She wants him to know that she is still standing and she will be strong. They will find their way back to each other. They always do.
The Speed Force brings Khione back to STAR Labs. Nora says she can’t help Team Flash anymore, it’s up to Khione to save them. Khione doesn’t think she can save anyone because she’s inhuman. Nora says that’s why Khione is the only one who can save everyone. Nora’s power is fading. And as long as Khione denies who she is, her time is running out too.

Nora asks Khione what she can do. Khione has saved people, animals, and even ecosystems. She can feel every living thing on the planet. Nora starts to fade away. She asks Khione to help Team Flash by embracing her power. If she can’t, the team, the city, and everyone on the planet will suffer. Nora disappears.
A POWERFUL FRIEND
Chester finds Mark at Caitlin’s old apartment. He also detects a strong force approaching the apartment. It’s Khione. Mark is waiting for her inside so he can eliminate her. She’s the only one who can protect Iris. Once she’s out of the way, he will get everything he wants.
Khione tells the Negative Speed Force to leave Mark’s body. The Negative Speed Force laughs saying she has to kill Mark if she wants to stop him. And he knows she won’t because Mark is her best friend. He shows her the crystal that keeps the Negative Speed Force inside of Mark’s body. Khione easily removes it with her powers, causing Mark’s body to disintegrate. With a snap of her fingers, she rebirths Mark without the crystal. When she goes to pick up the crystal, it disappears.

The cobalt-97 disappears from the satellites and Iris goes into labor. And even better, Barry reappears in the lab. No time for long reunions, it’s time to go to the hospital!
WAITING FOR NORA
At the hospital, Barry tells her about his adventure to the past and that it brought him peace. She’s happy to have him home and that Nora will be there shortly. Barry leaves and informs the team that Iris is okay. Allegra is okay too. The baby won’t arrive for hours.
Barry tells them that the Negative Speed Force is using the crystal to attack them. The crystal travels through time, using their friends to kill them all. Mark decides to look for the crystal and Khione asks if he’s okay to get back to work. He says he feels fine. Khione is glad he’s back. They have a moment about how much they missed each other and how powerful Khione has become.

So what is Khione? She’s a goddess. She’s connected to all of the forces and all of the elements. And if she is going to explore what that entails, she has to leave Central City and explore the world. But not until after they defeat the Negative Speed Force. Barry starts to tell her that they will help her with whatever she needs … and he disappears again!
EDDIE THAWNE
Gilmore finds his way to Eddie Thawne’s grave and digs up the coffin. Korber tries to stop him, but Gilmore is determined to see Eddie’s corpse. He says he sees visions of Eddie’s life, but Korber says he can’t be Eddie.
Gilmore opens the coffin and the body is gone. He starts to remember everything about Eddie Thawne and realizes who he really is and how he died. He tells Korber how he died and proves that he is Eddie by pulling the bullet out of his chest.
