Things are a mess on The Flash.  The Speed Force is dead, Barry/Flash (Grant Gustin) is losing his powers, Nash (Tom Cavanagh) is possessed by Thawne (Cavanagh), and Iris (Candice Patton) still isn’t Iris!  Back to Barry, what’s a superhero without his powers? How is Barry supposed to save the world now if he doesn’t have his speed?  And more importantly, how’s he going to save Nash from Thawne, who has his own negative speed force?

As for Iris, we know that she is in the mirrorverse with Eva McCulloch (Efrat Dor).  Her doppelganger is living Iris’ life outside of the mirror and Eva is working through her.  Last week Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) told Joe (Jesse L. Martin) that Iris was different. Then Iris shot Kamilla (Victoria Park) with a mirror gun, making her disappear. Where did Kamilla go?

That’s where we begin. Not only is Kamilla gone, she also has a brand new doppelganger.  She meets with Mirror Iris and Eva. Eva gives them an assignment to find a device she calls a prismatic refractor.  It’s in Mercury labs and she needs it to make her R-CEM work. I don’t know what the R-CEM is, but Eva is desperate to make it work.

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) are researching how to create a speed force, but the only person who has done it is Eobard Thawne.  While they research, they caution Barry about using his speed in any form or fashion. To keep track, Cisco gives Barry a speed gauge that turns red when he uses too much.

Joe teams up with Singh to find the CCPD mole on The Flash

Joe gives his mole evidence to Singh (Patrick Sabongui), who cautions Joe about investigating his own people.  Joe doesn’t trust anyone on the force, but he needs Singh to look at the cases and the evidence of tampering.  Singh asks if this is personal, but Joe insists it’s about bringing a criminal to justice.

Nash is ready to talk and admits to seeing multiple Wells that are supposed to be dead.  Caitlin is measuring his brainwaves and sees multiple waves tangled together. It’s possible when the multiverse collapsed, the other Wells channeled to the only living doppelganger.  But that doesn’t explain Thawne because he wasn’t a real Wells.

Nash wants Thawne out of his head and tells them he has a neuro splicer. He’s not sure the splicer can separate the brainwaves all at once.  Cisco says it can if it’s supercharged with the EMP from Nash’s gauntlet. They start arguing about how to do that while Cailtin watches Nash’s brain waves. She notices a change about the same time that Nash winks at Barry.  Caitlin tells Cisco to wait, but he puts the splicer in the gauntlet and a bright light emits from the glove.

Nash is really Thawne and he runs a time bubble in the Starchives, but Barry pulls him out before Thawne can activate it.  Thawne taunts Barry with talk about Nora. Barry prepares to use his phasing hand to kill Thawne, but Cisco and Caitlin stop him.

Caitlin kicks Barry out of the lab for two reasons.  One, Barry can’t control himself around Thawne and he will use his speed again.  And two, Barry could hurt Nash by going after Thawne. They have to find a way to get Thawne out of Nash.  If they can’t, Thawne will take over Nash’s body and will connect to the negative Speed Force.

Cisco calls in Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) to help monitor Nash during his exorcism.  She feels negative vibes coming off of Nash. Cisco’s plan to emit positive tachyons around Nash’s body so it drives Thawne out of Nash’s body.  When he turns on the device, Nash starts to remember something.

Nash remembers finding a young girl named Maya digging in his stuff while he was on a dig.  She is impressed with his latest find, called the Blood Bloom. There is a large ruby inside of the bloom.  Nash is impressed with her knowledge of the artifact. He finds out that her parents are gone, so he offers to teach her how to conduct an archeological dig. Also known as mythbusting and Maya accepts.  Nash moves inside of a cave and Cecile can feel him hurting.  Thawne is there with Nash, making him feel more pain. Thawne is feeding on Nash’s pain.  The positive tachyons aren’t working.

Iris and Kamilla infiltrate Mercury Labs on The Flash

The Mirror twins, Iris and Kamilla go to Mercury labs to do an interview on clean energy.  Kamilla finds the prismatic refractor easily. They aren’t the only ones after the refractor.  Joseph Carver (Eric Nenniger) sent another light based meta from Black Hole to the lab to retrieve the refactor. Iris calls in a robbery. Caitlin says she and Frost will handle it.

Frost confronts the meta, who says her name is Sunshine (Natalie Sharp). She is using sunlight to disappear and reappear. She also uses the sun to burn Frost. Barry grabs the Velocity-X, against Caitlin’s advice.  Flash shows up and retrieves the refactor. He tries to run, but stops abruptly. Joe shows up and Sunshine disappears.  Barry blames himself for Caitlin’s injury.  Joe noticed Barry’s speed glitch. Barry explains that he tried to use Velocity-X to boost his speed, but his body rejected it.  Just like Caitlin said it would.

Here’s what we know about Sunshine. Her real name is Millie Rawlins. Kamilla took her photo and they ran it through STAR Labs’ facial recognition. She is ex-miliarty, special ops, and transferred to covert division after the particle accelorator exploded. Her power is that she can bend sunlight and use it to become invisable.

Joe has the refractor and Iris shows a lot of interest in the device.  Joe tells Iris to turn her attention to Barry. Barry wants to know what they will do with the refactor. Since Joe doesn’t trust anyone at the CCPD, he call ARGUS to retrieve it.  Iris suggests they leave it at STAR Labs, but Barry can’t stop Sunshine if she shows up. Barry walks away and Iris voices her concern about Sunshine. Joe says he will worry about Sunshine, Iris needs to check on Barry.  Joe recognizes the difference now.

Iris reminds Barry of his abilities without his speed on The Flash

Barry is in the time bubble and Iris tries to comfort him.  She says the Barry she knows won’t let limits keep him from taking down metas and helping people.  Barry is so focused on what he can’t do without his powers. Iris reminds him that Barry Allen was taking down villains long before the Flash. He was a hero before the Flash came along.  He continues to say he can’t do anything without his speed. Iris reminds him that metas are the ones with limits. He just has to figure out what those limits are. Bingo! Barry figures it out and leaves.  Iris calls Kamilla telling her to be ready to move. She knows where the refractor is going.

Nash is trapped in a cave with Thawne.  Thawne went through Nash’s memories and picked the most painful one.  Nash begs to be let go, but Thawne goes through the memory saying she was a real go-getter.  So determined to get a sonic emitter because the prize is everything. And she died. Nash says it wasn’t his fault but Thawne says it was his fault. The only way out of the memory is to go into the cave where she died.

Cisco doesn’t understand why his positive tachyons aren’t working.  Thawne is only getting stronger and Cecile is a mess. All she feels is fear and shame.  Thawne gets through with his powers. Cisco tries to stop him, but he says the ropes won’t hold.  Cecile hits Nash in the back of the head, knocking him out. If Thawne gets through again, they will lose Nash forever.

Singh shows up at the CCPD and says he agrees with Joe about the mole. He wants to over see the transfer of the refractor to ARGUS. When ARGUS gets there, Sunshine makes an appearance.  She knocks out the ARGUS guards easily and then Singh. Joe takes the refactor, but Sunshine is too fast. Barry shows up and Joe tosses the refactor to him.

Sunshine chases Barry up to his lab. She gets in easily, but as soon as she’s in the middle of the room, the blinds are lowered, the door is shut and the rooftop windows are covered.  Sunshine has not sunlight to bend. The CCPD takes Sunshine into custody. ARGUS takes the refactor. Afterward, Singh makes the suggestion that Sunshine could be the mole since she had the ability to be invisible. They might be able to connect her to Carver. Singh and Joe leave to connect the dots. Barry has something else to take care of.

Cisco and Cecile watch over Nash.  They can’t do anything to combat Thawne’s negative energy. It’s only a matter of time before Thawne takes over Nash’s body and the other Wells will be tortured.  Cisco says Thawne will have Nash’s knowledge and memories so they can’t let him get his hands on Nash’s things. He picks up Nash’s bag and a picture falls out.

Cecile sees Allegra (Kayla Compton), but Cisco corrects her saying its Allegra’s doppelganger.  That leads Cecile to pinpoint what she’s feeling from Nash. There are feelings that are parental and feelings of grief.  She suggests that Nash is caught in a loop of remorse and sadness. She thinks Allegra’s doppelganger died. Cisco thinks Thawne is holding Nash in the memory of the doppelganger’s death.

Barry thinks of a way to stop Sunshine on The Flash

Barry arrives and says Nash has to be the one to expell Thawne, but they are going to help him.  He gives Cisco and Cecile a MAD 2.0, the device they used to get inside the Thinker’s mind. They are going to use it to get inside of Nash’s head to help him force Thawne out.

Cecile uses her psychic meta powers to put Barry and Cisco into Nash’s memories.  Barry blocks Thawne from getting close to Nash. Thawne tries to use Nora’s memory against Barry, but Barry says he won’t give Thawne that power anymore. Thawne thinks Barry and Nash are limited by their emotions.  Barry says his emotions gives him his strength to overcome anything. It’s metas like Thawne who are limited by their powers.

Cisco tries to talk Nash through his grief, saying the only way to get out of this painful memory is to face it. Cisco knows how hard it is. He says he couldn’t avoid the pain of watching Cynthia die. You can’t heal if you avoid the pain. He has to face the memory and Cisco will wait for him.Nash goes into the cave and Thawne tries to stop him. Barry steps inbetween them, refusing to let Thawne through.

In the memory, Mayan (Compton) is climbing down to an opening in the rock of a mountain.  They are trying to retrieve a memory cell, but it’s stuck in the rock pretty good. Maya unhooks her line and pulls the cell out.  Something makes the rock rumble, causing Maya to fall. She grabs the ledge of a rock with one hand while holding the cell with the other.  Nash can’t get to her to help. She slips and falls to her death.

Nash comes out of the cave, saying it was his fault that she died.  She only did what he taught her to do. He breaks down and cries. Because he takes control of his pain, there’s nothing for Thawne to feed off of.  Thawne is expelled from Nash’s body in red lightning. Bary watches as the lighting leaves Nash’s body and goes up into the sky. Everyone is okay.

Caitlin makes a difficult decision regarding Barry on The Flash

Barry and Cisco search for negative tachyons, but there are no signs of Thawne.  Nash’s brainwaves are Thawne free. He’s gone, but he’s not dead. He’s just formless.  Cisco checks on Nash. The Wells are still tangled in Nash’s brainwaves. Nash will continue to see and hear the Wells.  His own Crisis of Infinite Wells. Nash thanks Cisco for helping him.

Nash says he’s leaving and Cisco returns the picture of Nash and Maya. He points out that Nash has a second chance with Allegra, but he knows how hard it is to separate the person he knew from her doppelganger.  When Cisco met Harry Wells, all he could see was Eobard Thawne. Until he got to know Harry and they became friends. Nash got off to a bad start with Allegra but now he has a chance to build something good with her. And that’s what Harry was trying to tell Nash all along.

Barry apologizes to Caitlin for not following her advice and causing her to get hurt.  Cisco joins them and says Nash is okay. They still don’t know where to begin to build a new speed force.  Barry says Thawne kept trying to use Nora’s memory against him but it only reminded him that Nora is the answer. He pulls out Nora’s diary. Thawne taught Nora how to build a speed force.  He wants to use the diary to build his own speed force.

Iris and Kamilla were able to retrieve the refractor while the CCPD were fighting Sunshine.  She tells them that they did very well. As long as they stick to the plan, she is closer to liberation.
