The Flash family drama continues in “Gone Rogue.” If you thought Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) was upset before, just wait until you see what she can do when she’s really angry. Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) are still at odds on how to handle Nora once they find her. But they also have another angsty girl to find. Cicada 2.0 (Sarah Carter) is still on the loose and has a dangerous piece of tech. She stole Dr. Tannhauser’s (Susan Walters) atomizer, but for what purpose?
Nora may actually have turned bad. She starts out the episode by breaking into an architecture firm and frying their computer system. She also asks Gideon about breaking into another building, but she’s gonna need more help for this one. Nora assembles a small group of rogue villains to help her: Ragdoll (Troy James), Weather Witch (Reina Hardesty), and Bug-Eyed Bandit (Emily Kinney).
Nora…or in this case, XS’s plan is to break into McCulloch Industries. There is a special power dampening weapon that she wants, but the place is more secure than A.R.G.U.S. There are also some major weapons being produced that would sell for a lot of money on the black market. XS gets her weapon, they get the rest to sell. The bad guys aren’t so sure they believe XS has turned bad. She proves by saying their first step is to take out The Flash.
Meanwhile, Barry and the gang are trying to find Nora using the speed force but they aren’t getting any readings. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) reminds everyone that they also need to find Cicada II. Security was tripped at one of the Tannhauser silo labs. Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) volunteers to go with Caitlin to see if Cicada II stole anything else. Everyone else focuses on Nora.
Barry and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) get a hit on Nora and they find her at the Star-chives. She is taking the hypnotizing phone that belonged to Spencer Young. Barry tries to talk to Nora, but she flips out on him, screaming about how he doesn’t love her. She starts to vibrate and her eyes glow red, like Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh). She hits him with red lightning and runs away.
It seems like no matter what version of Harrison Wells (Cavanagh) that the team gets, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is always at odds with him. This time they are at odds about whether or not Cisco should tell Kamila (Victoria Park) about Vibe. And if Sherloque Wells should give it ago with his lady love…who he’s been avoiding lately. Ralph tries to give Sherloque his 12 steps advice, but Sherloque refuses. While they are arguing, Barry is dealing with Nora. The rest of her team takes over STAR Labs and takes Sherloque and Cisco hostage.
At first, Cisco is amused by Nora’s attempt to be bad. He says the fangirl is much like a cover band, using old tricks that have worked on Team Flash before. She shows him an old trick that scares him more than anything. She vibrates her hand, holds it to Cisco chest and shows him her glowing Reverse Flash red eyes. The plan is to force Cisco to reprogram the phone so they can break into their next target.
Iris and Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) are visiting at her office, but Cecile knows Iris is troubled. Iris is worried about Nora. She doesn’t understand why her daughter hasn’t come to her for help. Barry runs to Iris’ office to report about his encounter with Nora. He believes she is all bad and there’s no going back from that.
They go outside the office to talk. Iris thinks that Nora is trying to do something good. She wants to believe that Reverse Flash has changed and is really helping Nora. Barry finds that impossible. Eobard Thawne will never change. Iris wonders why Barry always has to think the worse about Nora and Thawne. They don’t resolve their argument before getting an alert that Team Bad Guys have taken over STAR Labs.
Team Bad waits while Cisco works on the phone. Sherloque apologizes for outing Nora. He calls her by her real name and insists that her father loves her. Weather Witch puts two and two together. XS is The Flash’s daughter and her name is Nora. Team Bad Guys realize they really can’t trust Nora, but they continue with the plan.
While all of this is going on, Caitlin and Ralph discover that Cicada II has hit another silo. She stole medication that helps coma patients. That makes sense because young Grace Gibbons (Islie Hirvonen) is still in a coma.
While they are searching, Caitlin asks Ralph why he’s so quick to give love advice but doesn’t try to find love for himself. Ralph doesn’t think he’s loveable. Caitlin says otherwise, pointing out all of Ralph’s great qualities. Ralph destroys the moment by telling Caitlin he only thinks of her as a friend.
Caitlin makes another discovery. Cisco was in the same silo, working on the meta cure. He reprogrammed a refrigerator to work as an incubator. The substance that was in that incubator was the prototypes of the meta-cure. And Cicada II took them all. Caitlin knows what she is trying to do.
Nora explains that her father left her. As much as she tried to impress him, he doesn’t love her enough. Weather Witch tells her about her dad. He left before she was born and her mother resented her for that. She ran away because her mom wasn’t interested in being a mother. She wanted her mother to find her, but she never showed up. Weather Witch says you can’t rely on family, you can only rely on yourself. Bug-Eyed Bandit and Rag Doll agree with her.
Barry has a heart to heart with Joe saying he doesn’t think he’s cut out to be a parent. Joe knows Barry will be a great dad. He has to trust himself and Nora to do the right thing. Joe says there were times he wasn’t sure how he felt about the things that Team Flash does. When it comes to picking whether to be a cop or be a dad, he will always choose to be a dad first.
The phone is ready and Team Bad Guys have everything they need to complete their mission. McCulloch Industries is conducting a tour of their facility, so Nora got the team fake visitor passes to get in. They find the weapons room and knock out the security guards that are escorting them through the facility. The door requires special clearance to get in. Or you can let a contortionist shimmy through a pipe to open the door. Is there anything Rag Dall can’t fit through.
Once inside the weapons room, Nora finds what she needs and tells Weather Witch to load up everything they need. She and Bug-Eyed Bandit have another idea. They tie up Nora and the security guards and go live online to inform the Flash that they will start killing the hostages unless he reveals his identity. Nora asks if their plan was about the money. Weather Witch says they are still taking the weapons, but they want to be known as the villains who unmasked The Flash.
The Flash shows up and awkwardly stalls his reveal. Weather Witch realizes he is a hologram. Sherloque is pretending to be The Flash from STAR Labs. Cisco is working on disengaging the power dampening security system. And three of the guards get out of their bonds and reveal a cloaking device to hide who they really are: Barry, Joe, and Iris.
Weather Witch starts blasting The Flash with her weather vane while Bug-Eyed Bandit protects the power dampening device with her bees. Iris and Joe get the rest of the hostages out of the building. Flash and XS have to take cover from the blasts and try to take out the power dampening device at the same time. Weather Witch is quick though and they don’t have time to stand, much less aim and shoot.
Outside of the weapons room, Iris and Joe get the guards to safety and Rag Doll shows up. Joe has never seen anything like him. And he’s really grossed out by what the guy can do. Rag Doll knocks out Iris and faces off with Joe. Iris recovers in time to help Joe. She punches Rag Doll so hard, his head literally spins. Ew.
Cisco is still working on the power dampening tech but turns his attention to the bees. He is able to hack the bees and turn them off. XS runs out to shoot the power dampening device. Weather Witch tries to blast her with lightning, but Barry runs in front of her and takes the hit. The lightning bounces off Barry and hits the device, giving the speedsters their powers. They slow down time enough to talk. Nora realizes that her dad was with her the whole time. He promises to never abandon her again. They easily take care of the bad guys and tie them up.
Everyone returns to STAR Labs and Nora explains herself. She thought she could control the bad guys and got in over her head, but says it was for a good reason. Barry tells her that killing Cicada is not a good reason, but that’s not what she was doing. She needed a special gun, built from the reflector panels from the STAR labs satellite. The gun is capable of destroying any object down to its atoms and it’s the only thing that can destroy Cicada’s dagger.
Barry feels bad. Nora didn’t tell them about her plan because it was Thawne’s plan. Nora says she won’t follow through with Thawne’s plan if they don’t want her too. Barry wants to use it, despite it being Thawne’s plan. Nora is surprised. She asks if he really believes Thawne, but Barry says he believes in her. He apologizes for how he treated her. Iris says they both love her and will never leave her again.
Cisco and Sherloque test the gun and everything checks out the way Nora said it would. Caitlin and Ralph return to tell everyone about Cicada’s plan. She took the broken and failed versions of the cure that could kill any metahuman, like a virus. Cicada plans to use the atomizer to spread the virus and kill all the metahumans in Central City.
Meanwhile, adult Grace tells young Grace a story while she works on a helmet to carry out her plan. She sees her uncle, Orlin Dwyer (Chris Kline) and they repeat the story together.
