It’s been setback after setback for our heroes on The Flash. Team Flash won one out of twelve battles for the twelve bus metahumans. Even though they were able to secure the last bus meta, The Thinker still knows where he is and how to get him.
Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) lost Killer Frost. The team believes if she is hit with enough dark matter, Frostie could come back.
Cisco (Carlos Valdes) was offered a job at the Breacher Collection agency after Breacher retired. It would give Cisco an opportunity be with Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) more, but he’d have to leave Team Flash.
In an attempt to outsmart Clifford DeVoe (Neil Sandilands), Harry (Tom Cavanagh) made his own thinking cap, powered by dark matter. Now he’s losing his intelligence.
The only good thing happening is Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cecile’s (Danielle Nicolet) baby!
In “Therefore She Is” The Flash (Grant Gustin) enlists Gypsy’s help to keep up with DeVoe.

When Clifford met Marlize
Take trip down memory lane with the DeVoes. Clifford met Marlize (Kim Engelbrecht) at a college speaking event. He challenged her professional opinion about how humanity views technology. DeVoe believes technology is the root of all that is evil. He longs for a day when humans will put down their electronic devices and live a simpler life. He even wrote a book about it, with a detailed plan to reboot the masses brains. DeVoe says technology is killing human kind. He asks Marlize to help him lead humanity to the true path of enlightenment.
Marlize is scared and she leaves Clifford. She goes to Africa to create a water purifier for a tribe. It’s simple technology really. However, a group of insurgents attack her camp and destroy her purifier. Clifford rushes to her side and she tells him that he’s right. Technology is destroying society. She tells Clifford that he’s the only man who can enlighten the world.
In the present day, Marlize and Clifford are jumping through pocket dimensions, collecting different pieces of technology around Central City. They are putting together the final pieces of DeVoe’s Enlightenment. As they go along, DeVoe threatens innocent lives that get in his way. Marlize talks him down, saying they don’t need to kill anyone. The crazy thing is, DeVoe kills them as they walk through a pocket.
Meanwhile….
Cisco gets a message from Gypsy about the job offer. He doesn’t tell anyone about it and is happy to help Harry with getting Killer Frost back. Harry displays a lot of forgetfulness that prompts Barry to ask him if he’s okay. Cisco says he’s not. Harry admits to what he did. He used dark matter to power the thinking cap and now he’s losing his intelligence. He doesn’t know how long before he loses it all. Barry promises that the team will help him, but Harry wants them to concentrate on stopping DeVoe.
The next day, Joe calls Barry, Cisco and Iris (Candice Patton) to a crime scene at Vandermeer Steel. After some investigating and interviews, they find the only thing missing is a file on “Alloy 1771,” a solar panel used to absorb the sun’s energy at 400% the rate. Barry asks Cisco to vibe the panel to find it and DeVoe, but Cisco reminds him that vibing anything with DeVoe will give him a headache. Barry suggests asking Gypsy to combine their powers and get a step ahead of DeVoe. At first Cisco says he doesn’t want to bother her, but they eventually call her for help.
When Gypsy gets there, the two breachers are able to get on the same vibe long enough to find shipping container #16. That has to be DeVoe’s next target. Team Flash gets to the docks just as DeVoe is taking the container next to #16. The Flash tries to stop him, but DeVoe sends him to the North Pole. Cisco and Gypsy attack. DeVoe knocks them back and disappears. Cisco and Gypsy start fighting about what went wrong. Barry arrives just in time to hear that Breacher offered Cisco a job on Earth 19.
What’s on Your Mind Harry?
Joe is planning a surprise for Cecile. There’s just one problem. Cecile can still read minds. He asks Harry to keep Cecile occupied while he and everyone else prepare the surprise. Harry asks what the surprise is, but if Harry knows, then Cecile will know and it won’t be a surprise.
Cecile arrives and is confused by what is going on in Harry’s head. He tells her the more he uses his brain, the faster he is going to lose it. Cecile consoles Harry telling him there’s other ways to be intelligent. She then realizes that she can see his thoughts before they vanish. She can write down what he’s thinking before it disappears. This unlikely pair keep working on Harry’s quest to stop DeVoe.
Barry confronts Cisco about his problems with Gypsy. Barry really needs them on the same page. So he offers to help. Barry gets Gypsy and Cisco in the same room to make them talk, but they are interrupted by an alarm. DeVoe has robbed two more tech manufacturers. He took hardware and killed three security guards. Barry asks Cisco and Gypsy to vibe together to find out what DeVoe is building. The vibe knocks them backwards.
Gypsy and Cisco are physically fine, but still aren’t talking. Barry decides to try again, but Iris tells him to stay out of their business. They have to figure it out for themselves. Barry says they don’t have time. Iris says he can’t answer the questions for them. He has to support them whether they are together or apart. Barry has a revelation that DeVoe is building multiple things.

Turning point
Cisco and Gypsy finally admit that neither of them want Cisco to take the job. Gypsy says she doesn’t want anything to change, Cisco wants more. He says he’s tired of how things are. He doesn’t want the job, but he wants Gypsy. He’s not asking her to leave her job, but is what they have enough for her? Gypsy says yes. Cisco says no.
They are interrupted by Barry. He tells the team that whatever DeVoe is developing, he needs a system quantum computers to make it work. Cisco just happens to know that Mercury labs just put in a system of quantum computers online. That’s where DeVoe is headed next.
Clifford and Marlize arrive at Mercury lab to shrink the quantum computers for transport. The Flash arrives with Vibe and Gypsy to stop the DeVoes. Vibe detains Marlize while the Flash and Gypsy attack Clifford. Marlize knocks off Cisco to help Clifford. She starts to stab at Cisco and Gypsy stops her, breaking her arm. DeVoe takes the opportunity to strike back, knocking everyone down.
Caitlin shows up to try and get Killer Frost back. DeVoe gets the upper hand on the team and starts choking Gypsy. Marlize tries to him down from killing Gypsy, saying their plan is to save everyone. When Marlize threatens to leave, Clifford freezes her and makes her watch. She asks if this is the lesson he wishes to teach today and Clifford lets Gypsy go. The DeVoes leave, but Gypsy is hurt.
Enligten Me
The team returns to STAR Labs. Harry and Cecile tell the team that DeVoe is going to use the computers to release enough concentrated dark matter on the earth, affecting everyone on the planet. That will reboot everyone’s brain to a simplified state. He wants to remove the intelligence of everyone on earth.
Cisco takes Gypsy back to Earth 19. Gypsy asks Cisco what is wrong with her. He treats her like she’s the only woman in the multiverse. They say goodbye in the saddest break up EVER!!!
At the Thinker’s lair, Marlize sits in the Thinker’s chair to heal her broken arm. Clifford barks an order at her and Marlize tells him no. She says they set out to enlighten the world, but now he wants to rule it. So she’s leaving. She put up a forcefield around her. He reminds her that she made a vow. She says she made that vow to her husband, who is dead. Marlize says he is nothing with her and she leaves.
Joe surprises Cecile with a baby shower. Everyone is good spirits, except Cisco. Barry checks to make sure he’s okay. Not really, but…Barry apologizes for pushing him and Gypsy. He says they did the right thing, but Cisco wonders why it hurts so much. Iris tells Caitlin not to put herself in danger again. Caitlin says she will get Killer Frost back.
Someone knocks on the door. It’s the Mystery Girl (Jessica Parker Kennedy). She hands Cecile a gift and says it’s from someone who thinks they are really special. Iris comes to the door, causing the mystery girl to get nervous and run. Iris looks down the hall for her and the Mystery Girl is hiding around the corner. When she hears the door close, the Mystery Girl speeds away in purple and and gold lightning.

Thoughts
THE MYSTERY GIRL IS A SPEEDSTER!!! And she seems to be hiding from Iris. Iris is the only person who hasn’t met the mystery girl (MG). Although MG seemed to really have high regard for Joe and Cecile. Could she be their daughter that is waiting to be born? MG did make a good guess as to when their baby would be born.
Cisco and Gypsy make me so sad!
I was waiting for Marlize to leave Clifford. It’s beyond time, considering everything he has done to her to keep her around. He really seemed lost without her before. Maybe now he will lose his focus and motivation. Yeah right…he’s too close to abandon his campaign now.
We are winding down on season 4. There is still one bus meta to be concerned about. Three episodes to figure out who MG really is. The birth of Cecile and Joe’s baby. And most importantly, stopping the Thinker from completing the Enlightenment. GO TEAM FLASH!
