Last week…

Team Flash found Tracy Brand (Anne Dudek), the scientist who creates the speed trap for Savitar.  She has a similar personality to HR, but she is science GENIUS.  Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) tried to kill Tracy for Savitar, but Team Flash was able to save her.

The Team continues the search for Savitar’s true identity.  Something Joe (Jesse L. Martin) said about love triggered Barry (Grant Gustin) to realize…he is Savitar.

Why?

How?

What?

So what happened was…

Savitar explains that Barry 2024 created the time remnants (Barry duplicates) to defeat Savitar and they all died. One survived…evil Savitar Barry.  Savitar Barry says he was rejected by Team Flash. They wouldn’t accept him as a true Flash hero.  This made him sad and lonely. And he decided to become a God because…God feels no pain.

Savitar Barry needs two things to complete his ascension  The first is to kill Iris so Barry will be sent into darkness.  This will allow the doppelgangers to exist. Aaaand…he is keeping the other thing a secret for now.

Barry is beside himself…literally.  He tries to kill his Savitar Barry, but Savitar’s suit attacks the real Barry.  And Savitar gets away.

Barry returns to STAR Labs and tells the team about what he just encountered.  Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is a little too excited about the turn of events.

Cisco says it’s like on Star Trek when the transporter split Captain Kirk into two…good and evil.

Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale)  poses the question that’s on everyone’s mind. Why does Savitar want to kill Iris?  He’s an exact copy of Barry. He has Barry’s feelings and memories.

And if Savitar has Barry’s memories, how will they come up with a plan to stop him?

Barry is really bothered by the reveal.  Iris (Candice Patton) is just as confused and even a little hurt. Barry says he saw his hurt in Savitar’s eyes.  Sometimes he wants to make someone hurt as much as he does. That’s where Savitar comes from…from Barry’s loss of Iris.  Iris says he won’t lose her, they will stop Savitar.  Barry wonders what he will have to become to stop Savitar.

Cisco comes up with a plan to stop Barry from making new memories.  They will do it by stopping his short term memory from transmitting to his long term memory bank.  Julian (Tom Felton) assists Cisco, but their first attempt erases all of Barry’s memories. Oops!

Barry doesn’t remember anything; not even his name.  He looks at his license and asks to be called Bart. Ha!  Barry freaks out.  Iris shows him pictures of everyone.  She says they are his friends and family.  Barry sees her engagement ring and asks who the lucky guy is.  This hurts Iris a little more.  She tells him that he can trust them.  Joe and Iris go to talk to Cisco about what’s going on.

Cisco says there is no sign of any permanent damage.  They didn’t account for Barry’s super speed into how quickly his brain works. Cecile calls Joe and asks for Barry to testify in her case.  Iris and Joe take Barry to the CCPD.

Tracy is trying to work on device that will trap Savitar, but her tools aren’t working for her.  HR goes to check on her and learns she is having trouble. HR tells her to take a break and relax a little.  He asks her what helps her relax.  Coffee.  A lot of Coffee.  They are so much alike.  And they are getting closer.  Too close for HR maybe.  When he tries to kiss her, he stops before actually kissing her.  And then runs away…typical!

Barry meets with Cecile.  He was the CSI in a case against a pyromaniac, Heat Monger.  And Barry doesn’t remember anything about his job. If Barry cannot testify, Heat Monger walks.  Barry apologizes.  He thinks he messing everything up for everyone.  Iris says they just want him to get better.

Killer Frost goes to Savitar’s lair.  She tells him it’s time to take down Team Flash or neither one of them will get what they want but he attacks her.  He doesn’t remember who he is!

Barry and Iris go to Jitters and talk about what he was like growing up.  He smiles about everything.  Iris is enjoying this version of Barry Allen.  He’s not carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.  Barry gets a text to go to the courthouse.

At Heat Monger’s trial, Julian and Cisco made glasses for Barry that project a screen.  They feed him the answers to Cecile’s questions.  Barry starts to sweat and the sweat causes the glasses to malfunction.  Barry can no longer answer Cecile’s questions.  Heat Monger’s trial is declared a mistrial.

Killer Frost arrives at STAR Labs.  Wally tries to use his speed, but nothing happens. He has no power.  Killer Frost tells them to do exactly as she says to fix Wally’s speed and help Barry.

Barry apologizes for letting Heat Monger go.  Iris says it’s not his fault.  Barry says he can’t do anything about another bad guy on the streets.  Iris smiles.  That’s exactly how Barry always reacts.

Iris takes him to their apartment.  He sees pictures of his parents.  Iris tells him that they died peacefully.  That’s the reason he lived with her and Joe.  Barry asks if that’s how they met. She says they were friends before.  And he was the happiest boy she had ever met.  Barry says he was probably happy because he had Iris in his life. He kisses her.  Barry’s power returns.  He can’t control it though.  Iris has to take him back to STAR Labs.

The team is waiting for them with Killer Frost. They fill in Iris and Joe about Wally losing his powers.  Iris asks Barry to let them talk.

Cisco’s plan worked! However, since Savitar lost his memory, he never experienced Flash Point.  So he never came up with the plan to restore Wally’s speed.

Killer Frost wants to help them restore Barry’s memories. However! If they restore Barry’s memories, they restore Savitar’s.  Wally will get his speed back and Iris will die.  What a dilemma!  Iris is confident that with Wally’s help they can teach “Bart” how to be the Flash again.  Killer Frost is willing to let them try.  In the meantime, there are a lot of villains out there and no Flashes to defend the city.

HR visits Tracy again.  He tells her that they have to focus on their work, they can’t get distracted by each other.  But they do.  Tracy kisses HR. The sparks triggers Tracy’s answers for the device.

Killer Frost tells Cisco and Julian they should never have attempted to put a barrier on Barry’s memories without Caitlin.  With Killer Frost in the lab, Cisco takes the opportunity to reminisce about better times with Caitlin.  He’s trying to see if Caitlin is still in there.  He tells her that she is in all of the memories that he cherishes the most.  Caitlin is still in there!

Joe says he hasn’t seen Barry this happy in a long time. Iris says this is the happiest he’s ever been. Joe reminds Iris, this is not the real Barry.  The bad things that happened to Barry make him the good man he has become.  That’s the man that Iris fell in love with.

Iris and Joe tell Barry about his other life as The Flash.  Wally comes in to show them the news report about Heat Monger setting fire to a building in Central City where hundreds of people work.  Barry says he has to go stop him.  The Team is worried because Barry doesn’t remember exactly how to be a superhero.

Killer Frost tells them they have to jolt his memory using the device she created with Cisco and Julian.  Cisco explains the device can send an electrical charge through The Flash suit and theoretically, it should give him his memories back.  But they haven’t tested the theory yet.  If they don’t do something, a lot of people will die.

Cisco sends the charge through the suit, but Barry doesn’t remember anything.  Killer Frost says that they reactivated his temporal lobe.  Barry just has to access his memories.

Iris tells Barry how his mom died.  And about the night that Barry went to live with them.  She found him sitting by himself in the living room crying.  She comforted him.  That was the night that they fell in love.  She says for every bad memory, there is a good one that will get him through it.

Barry remembers. Savitar remembers too.  Wally gets his speed back.  He helps Barry put out the fire and save the people in the building.  They capture Heat Monger and save the day.

The team questions Barry to see if all of his memories are intact.  Now they can focus on stopping Savitar. Killer Frost tells them good luck.  Barry, Cisco and Julian try to talk Caitlin into staying with them. Julian tells Caitlin that he loves her.  Killer Frost says she doesn’t love him.  She doesn’t love any of them. Killer Frost leaves the lab.

Iris says they will figure out a way to get Caitlin back…just like they got Barry back . Barry asks Iris if this is the version she wants.  He has a lot of baggage. Iris says she liked seeing him happy.  He was finally free.

Barry tells her that he had that same freedom in Flashpoint. He could have let his parents live.  He would have lost the team. Barry’s pain and darkness pushes him to be a better person.  And it keeps him from forgetting who he is.  That’s the Barry Allen that Iris knows.

HR interrupts them to show them the Speed Force Bazooka.  Joe asks if it will trap Savitar.  Tracy tells them that there’s not enough power.  It needs 3.86 terajoules of energy to hold Savitar.  That’s more energy than the sun.  Where do you find that much energy?

Remember the Dominators from the Supergirl-Flash-Arrow-Legends of Tomorrow crossover?  They came to earth and attacked our heroes.  At one point, they tried to control the minds of Supergirl and the Legends with a mind control crystal. That crystal is the power source Team Flash needs.  And it is guarded by King Shark.

Thoughts…

For the entire season, we have been dealing with the cause and effect of Flashpoint.  I’m kind of ready to move on.

It was nice to see Barry smiling without any worries.  We haven’t really seen much of that in any season.

So…the Dominators return.  As we knew they would.  They were recently a part of the Supergirl-verse as well.  I guess they will never truly go away.

How cute is Tracy and HR!?  I’m liking their love story! I hope it lasts.

Please let Iris use her strengths.  She could be such a stronger character.  Just as she is about to reach a peak,  the writers bring her back down again and focus on the men.  Let’s give Iris a chance!

The big finale is just a couple of episodes away.  Will Team Flash save Iris?  I hope so!
