It’s Barry Allen’s time to shine in the DCU. Super Bowl LVII unveiled the official trailer and a Big Game TV Spot teaser for The Flash, and folks, I’m ready for action.
Here’s a synopsis for the film per WB MediaPass:
“Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”

In the trailer, we see Barry (Ezra Miller) endeavor to stay in a specific timeline because his mother, Nora (Maribel Verdú), is still alive. However, Barry’s choice comes with consequences. When he meets another version of himself, things start to go pear-shaped.
Barry reunites with the Bruce Wayne he knows, played by Ben Affleck, while meeting a Batman many of us consider a staple from our childhoods: Michael Keaton’s version. We even hear a snippet of Danny Elfman’s excellent score as Keaton’s Batman leaps into action.
Additionally, the trailer brings General Zod (Michael Shannon) back into the fold. Hey, when it concerns the multiverse, you can do anything. My favorite part of the trailer is our introduction to Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, portrayed by Sasha Calle. She looks like an absolute badass.

The teaser is mainly comprised of the same scenes from the trailer save a few new gems, including Supergirl crying out, “What did you do?” and a shot of Batman’s many, many suits.
The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Maribel Verdú, Ron Livingston, Kiersey Clemons, Ben Affleck, Antje Traue and Michael Keaton. Andy Muschietti directs from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold.
