The End is near on The Flash. In “Armageddon Part 2,” Despero (Tony Curran) warns the Flash/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) of an impending tragedy that will start Armageddon.
Last week, Team Flash encountered an alien named Despero who came from the future to kill the Flash. Flash tried to reason with him and asked for a chance to prove that he’s incapable of hurting the world. Despero agrees to give him seven days.

Despero is pretty confident that he will be killing the Flash soon. Barry is more interested in finding out what happens to make him attack the world. Despero says an event will happen the next day that will start Barry’s descent into madness. Barry is certain that he and Team Flash can stop whatever that is.
Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) at the DEO gives the team access to their files on all of the aliens on Earth. No one believes that Barry is capable of destroying the world. Frost (Danielle Panabaker) reminds everyone that he has turned scary powerful before. Barry promises that won’t happen again. Allegra (Kayla Compton) says Barry isn’t the threat, Despero is. She finds it funny that Despero cares so much from Earth and he’s not even from here. (He doesn’t even go here!) Caitlin (Panabaker) says Despero’s anatomy is unlike anything she’s seen before. His strength and vulnerability rivals Kryptonians. Barry says they will prove Despero wrong to stop him from killing him.
STOP AT ALL COSTS
Frost and Chester (Brandon McKnight) get to work on figuring out a way to stop Despero. Frost asks Chester to build a weapon that will hurt Despero. Chester is a pacifist. He’s never built anything that could hurt anyone. Frost tells him to look at it as building something that will save Barry’s life.
Barry expresses his concerns about Iris’ safety. Iris (Candice Patton) says she will be fine. She is going to help Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) with the baby. Barry can’t help but be worrried. She says they always find their way back to each other no matter what happens. They are destined to be together. They will find a way to stop Despero.
Barry gets called into work and that’s when things start getting crazy. First, the security guard at a bank goes crazy and shoots his gun in the air. No one is hurt, but it’s still strange. When Barry arrives to investigate, Captain Kramer (Carmen Moore) stops him and asks for his badge. Kramer says Barry is under investigation as another accomplice of Joseph Carver.
Meanwhile, Despero stands in the speed lab, watching everything with his third eye. Barry calls Cecile and meets her at his loft. Cecile is so upset. She’s ready to sue the City for wrongful termination. Barry asks if she’s okay and she’s not. She’s been having a hard time since … you know …
Cecile feels another presence in the loft. Barry sees Despero, but Cecile can’t. Despero says he linked up with Barry to keep an eye on him. Despero goes away and Cecile can breathe better. She says it felt like the whole room was flooded and they were drowning.
ONE LOSS AFTER THE OTHER
Barry visits the security guard and he keeps repeating the name Xotar. Caitlin calls Barry to let him know the city is shutting down the STAR Labs because of a radiation leak. The lab has to be contained with a concrete encasement because the radiation levels are so high. Then they will demolish the lab and move the remains to a nuclear waste site. The reason the team didn’t know is that the sensors are corroded. A containment team is already in the lab searching for leaks.
When the city workers get to the inner part of the lab they will discover that it’s Flash HQ. Barry tells the team to collect whatever they can and seal the lab’s critical areas. Chester frantically grabs whatever will fit in a bag. He stops to look at his plans for a weapon and walks away.
Barry initiates holographic emitters around the lab to hide any evidence of Team Flash. The emitters work and the city workers never see any evidence of Team Flash and they leave. Gideon tells Barry to keep his identity secret, he has to wipe all of the Team Flash files, including Gideon. Gideon says farewell and the lab is officially shut down.
Team Flash moves HQ to Barry and Iris’ loft. Barry says it’s not proof that Despero is right about the Future, but it’s not proof that he’s isn’t right either. They have to have faith in Barry and each other. Caitlin says they are with Barry but they wish there was another explanation.
Barry tells them about the security guard and the name Xotar. They don’t have any equipment to track Xotar down, but they do have Iris. Iris runs a story on Xotar immediately. Barry is very worried though. Iris says he can never really hurt them. He says he doesn’t know how he would react if he hurt someone he loved.
LOSING YOUR MIND
Iris gets a text from one of her reporters. They found out that Xotar is a psychic meta criminal from National City. She controls her victims’ minds and drives them crazy. She could be the reason Barry loses his mind. Now he has to find her.
Flash finds Xotar (Kandyse McClure) and tries to quickly detain her. She uses her power on him as he is running at her. He ends up in his loft, tearing up the place. Everyone is on the defense because Barry attacked them out of nowhere. He almost lighting blasted Chester. Barry doesn’t remember any of it. Allegra had to blast him to stop him. Barry says he’s back to normal and Caitlin verifies it by scanning his vitals.
Barry tells them about his encounter with Xotar. They need to find a way to stop her. They don’t have a way to track her except for Barry to run around the city. Caitlin has to go home to help Frost set up a med lab. Chester offers his garage to set up a comm/cortex type sich.
Barry runs into Despero. Despero remains cryptic about Barry’s fate. Barry is sick of him and asks what he has to gain by saving Earth. Despero tells him about the destruction of his planet. He had a chance to kill the oppressor but he was banished to Earth instead. Flash says he’s been through a crisis before and can handle what’s coming. Despero thinks he will be consumed by it instead.
STAY TRUE
Chester and Allegra set up his equipment and she finds the weapon that he was working on. He doesn’t want to tell her about Frost’s request, but she knows him well enough to know he’s holding back. He comes clean about the weapon and Allegra doesn’t like it. Chester doesn’t like it either. He’s afraid by hurting Despero, he will hurt himself too. Allegra encourages him to stay true to himself.
They get an alert. Chester uses cell phones to pick up CCPD chatter. They have a lead on Xotar. She’s robbing a truck full of priceless art. Flash arrives and faces off again with Xotar. Xotar reveals that she’s also telekinetic. She uses her powers to raise Flash into the air and tries to bend his body.
Flash’s only defense is to move his cells rapidly to generate lightning. Chester, Caitlin and Allegra can hear Barry screaming on the comms. They hear lightning and know he’s building an electrical charge inside of his body. They’ve never seen him do that before. Barry generates enough lighting to pull himself up and blast Xotar. He quickly puts meta dampeners on Xotar and takes her to Iron Heights. Everyone she affected returned to normal.
The team thinks everything is back to normal. They all decide to get something to eat. Barry suggests they go to Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cecile’s and ask Joe to feed them. Everyone gets quiet. They aren’t amused by Barry’s suggestion because Joe died six months ago. Barry starts freaking out. He has no recollection of Joe’s death.
ARMAGEDDON PART 2
Barry runs to Joe’s house and looks all over for him. When he stops he asks Iris where her dad is. Iris can’t believe that he’s asking about Joe when Barry gave the eulogy at his funeral. Barry says it’s wrong, Joe can’t be dead. Cecile walks in the room and says Joe is gone. She doesn’t understand why Barry can’t accept it. Barry insists that Joe is alive and he wants to find out what happened to him.
Iris gets a text that Barry is on the news. They turn on the television. The news reports that the Flash went on a rampage throughout the city, destroying city hall. Luckily, no one was hurt The news reporter says their hero turned against them. Barry says he doesn’t remember it. Iris says they can’t blame Xotar for the attack on the city because she was in meta cuffs when it happened.
Despero arrives and says it was Flash all along. The alien says it all ends now. He blasts Barry, sending him flying through the room. Despero plans to kill him with the Flame of Py’tar, the undying fire of his home world. Cecile uses her power to stop Despero and tells him to leave her home. She’s no match for Despero so he makes her go to sleep.
Barry stands up and tells Despero to get it over with. Allegra teleports into the room with Chester and a device that reflects Despero’s flame back at him. Chester tells Barry to run. Despero doesn’t understand why they aren’t joining his side. He says if they stand in his way again, they will suffer the consequences. He will find the Flash and end him before he brings about Armageddon.
INJUSTICE
Iris and the team call Alex to let her know what happened. Alex says they have some info.. They heard rumors about the Fire of Py’tar, an energy source that is the sentient heart of the planet Kalanor. Team Flash is the first to meet an actual Kalanorian.
The team wants to track down Barry if he wants to be found. Chester promises they will get Barry back. Iris is concerned about what Barry will be like when they do get him back.
Barry runs to the Hall of Justice. He stands at the table and a familiar pair of hands join him. Black Lightning Jefferson Pierce (Cress Wiliams) is there. Barry asks for his help. Black Lightning asks what’s going on. Barry says, injustice.
