Warner Bros. released the first full trailer for Dune today, and it is phenomenal! Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the retelling of the Frant Herbert classic novel has a stacked cast and a stunning effects. This is the first of two movies covering the first novel of the Dune series.
RELATED: Here’s what we know about Dune so far…
Dune stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides and Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides. As their advisors, the cast boasts Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho and Chang Chen as Dr. Wellington Yueh. House Harkonnen’s Baron Vladimir is played by Stellan Skarsgård and Dave Bautista is Glossu Rabban. The film also stars Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Dr. Liet Kynes, Zendaya as Chani and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.
The trailer, presented by Twitter Movies, started with an interview with the cast, hosted by super nerd Stephen Colbert. Then came the trailer. I can’t even put into words how amazing this trailer is. It appears that each of the characters gets plenty of screen time. We see Paul, Chani, Duke Leto, Duncan Idaho, Gurney Halleck, Lady Jessica, “The Beast” Rabban, Baron Harknonnen, Stilgar, Kynes, the Reverend Mother herself, Gauis Mohiam and many more! There are so many action sequences, especially for Momoa’s Idaho. We see shield fighting, the Gom Jabbar and Pain Box, stunning visual effects and we hear Paul’s narration all set to Pink Floyd‘s “Eclipse.” And, finally the sand worm; it will take your breath away.
I honestly believe Chalamet is the perfect Paul. He brings the character much depth. One thing we did not see is the third stage navigators! That’s a good sign that they didn’t give us too much in this trailer, because now we want more!
I’ll be watching this all day! Check out the trailer below.
“A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”
