Dante and his co-worker Shaw are at the hospital watching over La Maldad. The surgeon says she will be ready for transport later that evening, but the surgeon on-call will have to give the okay. That is when viewers find out La Maldad belongs to the cartel but has made a deal with the FBI to testify against her dad. She is willing to testify but still wants to kill Dante for shooting her.
Robyn arrives at the same hospital to give Miles the meal she cooked for him. At that moment, Dante runs into them, and Robyn introduces both men. When Dante is gone, Miles asks about him but is pulled away for an emergency before Robyn can answer the question. The emergency is that La Maldad is getting sick, and Miles will have to operate on her.

As she is leaving the hospital, Robyn runs into two paramedics. However, she notices one of them has a cartel tattoo, so she calls Dante to ask about the case he is working on. When he tells her about La Maldad, she warns him about the men she saw. That is when they start shooting, and Robyn tells him to put the hospital in lockdown. Dante warns her that Miles is the doctor operating on La Maldad.
Eyes and Ears
Robyn meets up with Dante and his crew, letting them know that the sicarios don’t know La Maldad is in surgery. When Dante’s co-workers ask about Robyn, he tells them she is their best chance at surviving. Meanwhile, Robyn calls Harry (Adam Goldberg) and asks him to be her eyes and ears in the hospital.

When Harry hacks into the security system, he sees the sicarios killing a security guard and a nurse being interrogated at gunpoint. The nurse gives up their location, so they have to close the first security door. That doesn’t stop the sicarios from shooting at it, trying to open it.
The NYPD’s backup will take more than 15 minutes to arrive, so Mel (Liza Lapira) decides to help them. She says she will grab her big gun and meet Robyn at the hospital.
Dante’s Explosion
When he comes out of surgery, Miles sees that Robyn is still at the hospital and mentions he is happy she is helping. That is when Dante asks if Miles is Robyn’s ex-husband.

The sicarios hack into the hospital’s system and play Feliz Navidad over the speakers while watching the cameras. The main guy calls Robyn and asks her to hand La Maldad over to them. Harry gets disconnected from the security fee as the sicarios get ready to blow the security door over. Dante is too close to the door and gets harmed in the explosion.
Miles checks Dante’s wound while Robyn watches over him, but she steps away when Harry finds more information on the sicarios. He was able to ID the boss and find out they had come in through the coast, so he warned the Coast Guard, and they sized his boat. He also mentions he found a way out, but they must kick a wall down to get there.

Miles asks Dante how he knows Robyn while bandaging his arm. When Dante mentions they work together, Miles asks if he is part of her team, but the other man says they have their own thing. That is when Miles mentions they also have their own thing, and Dante calls him the ex-husband.
Hand La Maldad Over
They are interrupted by the sicarios again asking Robyn to hand La Maldad over. They give Harry access to the fee again, and he sees two sicarios holding four civilians at gunpoint. At that point, they have two options: hand La Maldad over or let the hostages die. When Robyn says the third option is going in, Mel’s voice pops up through the phone, saying she is ready to intervene. Because she can’t see who the sicarios are, Harry guides her through the fee, and she is able to shoot the two men holding the Christmas carolers hostage. The boss cuts Harry’s fee again.

Inside Work
La Maldad begins to claim she is in pain and refuses to move. Miles mentions to Dante and Robyn that her complaints don’t match her symptoms, so they begin to wonder why she could be lying. That is when they realize the sicarios aren’t there to kill her but to get her out. Shaw, Dante’s co-worker, turns around and starts shooting at them. The sicarios show up and take Miles hostage.
As Mel arrives and shoots the only sicario left there, Harry mentions they are heading to the roof for a helicopter. Robyn makes it clear that they aren’t letting Miles die. Harry manages to figure out where they are headed.

Dante, Mel and Robyn arrive just as the sicarios, Shaw and Miles, are about to get on a plane. Dante shoots La Maldad and kills her before telling Robyn he is going after Shaw and will bring her doctor back home. Meanwhile, Robyn manages to trick the boss and shoots him.
Dante catches up to Shaw and asks him to let Miles go. However, Shaw says Dante has to put his gun down if he wants Miles to live. When Dante puts his weapon down, Miles begins to yell at him to pick it back up and kill Shaw, but Robyn saves the day by shooting Shaw from behind. Dante walks away, leaving Robyn and Miles alone.

Cam Staying Over
While Robyn, Dante and Miles are being held hostage, The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 7, “Slay Ride,” was supposed to celebrate the Christmas spirit with Delilah going to meet Cam’s family at their big Christmas celebration. However, when Cam arrives to pick her up, Aunt Vi sees the hospital news on the TV, and Delilah decides to stay home.
When Cam suggests Delilah call her mom and dad, she says she can’t do that because it would give away their location. Aunt Vi tries to explain this reaction by saying Delilah watches too many crime shows. Shortly after that, she steps away to call Harry. He tells her what is happening and that they are working on a plan to get them out, so he will call her with any updates.

Delilah encourages Cam to go to his family celebration, and after he leaves, she sits on the couch with Aunt Vi, watching the news. However, a few seconds later, Cam returns, saying he will stay because she is with her for everything. Even though he wants to be there for her, he doesn’t really know what to say, but she promises him that just being there is enough.
Aunt Vi is fixing the Christmas decorations as a distraction, but when Delilah confronts her about it, she confesses she isn’t okay. The young woman tells her aunt that Robyn will be okay because she has been through worse. When Cam asks about this comment, Delilah simply mentions that her mother was in the military.

Mel and Harry’s Christmas Eve
Before “Slay Ride” goes from Christmas to chaos, Mel gives Harry a gift and tells him to give that to her. The truth is that she hadn’t liked any of the gifts he had given her in the past. Harry refuses to accept that gift because what he has planned this year will be perfect for her.
After the case is closed, Mel arrives back at Harry’s cave, and he says her gift is ready. At first, she is confused because he hands her the lyrics to the song she wrote. But he follows it with a guitar, saying she has heard him playing the guitar at night and wants her to have her own guitar because she deserves to be heard.
While Mel begins singing her song, we see Miles and Robyn arriving home, hugging Delilah, Aunt Vi and Cam. Meanwhile, Dante is telling another FBI agent everything that happened that day.
