The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 4, “All Bets Are Off,” starts in a casino with many people in fancy clothes making bets. Soon, we see one of the women who worked at the casino disappear into the bathroom and make a phone call talking about a demonstration. However, before anything else can happen, a man walks into the bathroom, finds her cell phone, and takes her away unconscious.
That is when Dante (Tory Kittles) calls Robyn (Queen Latifah) asking for help. He tells her the woman who has gone missing, Rose Garcia, is his old partner, and he needs help rescuing her. Because the FBI is keeping a close eye on the casino’s owner, Charles Benson, they won’t move in to save Rose — that is when Robyn comes in.

Getting Inside Help

To help out the case, Harry (Adam Goldberg) is again using the help of M.E.L. (which now has a voice). Robyn asks him to see if they could find Benson’s known associates to get inside the casino. That is when they discover JJ (Mike Epps). However, they need Dante’s help to get him out because he is still in prison.
Dante seems to be on the fence about letting JJ out, but Robyn convinces him by reminding him why he went to her for help. She can visit JJ in prison, but he refuses to help. Robyn is able to convince him by talking about his old partner who died, and Benson left behind. She mentions Dante’s partner and the fact that now she needs saving.

The first thing JJ does while being out is eat a burger and ask Robyn to see his grandma, to which he only agrees if he helps them. JJ mentions that to help her, he must get back into character, so he needs to see his boy before going to Benson. However, by the time they arrive, there are three men waiting for JJ outside because he owes them money from old gambles. Robyn instructs JJ to stay in the car while she fights the men, but JJ is gone by the time she is done.
Robyn has previously put a tracker in JJ’s burger, so she is able to find him. She finds him outside a convenience store with scratchers he is trying to use to pay loan sharks. The two of them meet with Dante at Mel’s (Liza Lapira) bar to talk about Garcia and setting up a meeting with Benson. Dante mentions Garcia had talked about a demonstration, so they want JJ to get information on that. He says he will do his best to help them, but Benson might not be too happy to see him because he believes JJ stole money from him.
Benson, His Bodyguard and Maybe Bertha

Dante and Robyn are in their car watching a camera feed to keep track of JJ as he meets with Benson. At first, Benson seems to be pissed off about the money, but he quickly changes his mood, happy to see JJ. However, when he starts asking questions about JJ’s release from prison, he seems worried about JJ having made a deal with the police. That is when he takes the opportunity to apologize for what happened to Sylvia and asks JJ to help him run the casino.

While Benson is a few steps ahead, his bodyguard (the same guy who took Garcia) threatens JJ and tells him he will get him if he does anything wrong. Before JJ can say anything, Benson opens a door and shows him there is more to the casino than meets the eye. He walks him into a room full of drugs, money and guns. The bodyguard also shows him Garcia’s body, giving him an example of what happens to rats.
In the meantime, Harry had been working with M.E.L. and discovered that many of the men who visit Benson’s casino are on the FBI and CIA watch lists.
Dante sees Garcia’s body through the camera feed and starts blaming himself for what happened to her. Robyn tries to make him feel better by telling him they have enough contraband evidence to go straight to the DA to get a warrant for Benson’s casino.

They no longer need JJ, so Mel is driving him back to prison, but as promised, she will stop at his grandma’s house for him to see her. Inside the grandma’s house, JJ looks for a bag full of money that he stashed away the night he was arrested. He tries to run away with it, but Benson’s bodyguard catches up with him and takes the bag. Before he can attack JJ, Mel intervenes and saves him. When trying to excuse himself, JJ says the money is for Bertha (his penpal girlfriend) to pay for their place in Vermont.
While they’re sorting things out, Harry calls Mel to let her know M.E.L. analyzed the footage of Garcia’s body, and her hand was twitching, which means she isn’t dead. With that new evidence and the drugs they find on Benson’s bodyguard, they discover Benson’s demonstration is nerve gas, so they need someone to demonstrate it on — that is why he took Garcia.

With all this new information, Robyn decides she must infiltrate the casino, and in order to do so, she needs JJ’s help, which means he isn’t going back to prison yet. He is happy to help but mad that Mel didn’t wait for Bertha. That is when Harry and Robyn tell him they tried looking for Bertha but didn’t find someone under that name with a place in Vermont.
Robyn Undercover

That night, Robyn shows up at Benson’s casino as a woman who works for Penn, a CEO looking to buy Benson’s product. The security guys don’t want to let her in, but JJ convinces them it’s okay and tells her the demonstration will start in 30 minutes.
While Robyn mingles, JJ goes to the back and lets Mel into the casino. Dante is outside waiting with SWAT, and Mel looks around and tries to find Garcia. However, they discover she is gone by the time she arrives in the room Garcia is supposed to be in. They believe they took her to a lab nearby, but in order for Harry to find the exact lab, the demonstration must be delayed.

Robyn approaches Benson and asks him to delay the demonstration in her boss’s name. When he refuses, she offers him $10 million so that her boss will be the only buyer. Benson believes this is bad for business, so Robyn suggests they play poker for it. If she wins, he will delay the demonstration.
The two of them are playing at a separate table, and Robyn wins. However, things take a turn when Penn shows up and claims she doesn’t know who Robyn is, so Benson’s men take Robyn away with instructions to find out who sent her and then kill her. Of course, the bodyguards can beat her, and Robyn escapes.
Finding Garcia

By the time Harry and M.E.L. discover which lab they took Garcia to, Benson has already gathered his guests around a TV to watch the demonstration. Garcia is locked inside a glass box, and they start filling the box with nerve gas. At the same time, Benson gets a call letting him know they have been infiltrated, but before he gets away, JJ attacks him, and Robyn shows up to help.
Dante and the SWAT team arrive at the lab, and he is able to break the box and give Garcia a shot with the antidote.

Dante, Robyn and JJ sit at Mel’s bar, talking about Benson going away for a long time and Garcia being at the hospital. JJ takes the time to ask for his money back, but they can only give him that amount as a reward for his help catching Benson. Robyn asks him if he wants the money as soon as he gets out or if he wants her to hold on to the money until he gets his act straight. That is when Mel and Harry walk in with a woman and tell him they found Bertha, but her real name is Janine Carter.
Robyn and Dante take the opportunity to talk. She reassures him he is not his father and that he is the kind of man she would trust with her life. He thanks her for being there for him. Because he has a lot to process, Robyn tells him it’s okay to postpone drinks because she isn’t going anywhere.
Delilah’s Journey

While Robyn is helping Dante find his old partner, Aunt Vi (Lorraine Toussaint) and Delilah (Laya DeLeon Hayes) go through their own things.

Delilah is dealing with her dad’s divorce while volunteering for Peer Ear and helping other kids at school who might be having issues. Because of this, she intervenes when two girls are fighting with each other, but instead of helping them, she ends up being made fun of. They tell her everyone thinks she’s perfect and has no problems and show her a post on social media talking about her.
She runs away and leaves school, which leads Aunt Vi to get a call from them and have to track Delilah. She finds her at the park and asks her what is going on. Delilah tells her what happened in school and that everyone thinks she is nosy and has no life when, in reality, she just wants to help people. She mentions she wants to find more people like her, and that’s one of the reasons she wants to join the military.
Later that night, Aunt Vi, Delilah, and Robyn talk in the kitchen, and Delilah tells her what happened at school. Her mom reassures her that it is just people trying to throw her off course, and the girl shows them some positive comments left on the social media post. The three of them end up singing a song Delilah used at Peer Ear to help a girl who felt everyone was watching her.
The Equalizer airs Sundays at 8 pm on CBS.
