Step into the magical world of Thra in the latest The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance featurette.  The video features cast and creator interviews discussing the expansion of this magical world. The series is the prequel to the 1982 film The Dark Crystal. Both feature puppets from Jim Henson Co.’s Creature Shop.

The featurette includes an interview with executive producer Lisa Henson. She give a little more insight about the story. The series is set at a time when the Gelflings had a prosperous civilization and they looked up to the Skeksis as leaders.  Until Rian, voiced by Taron Egerton witnesses something horrific that changes everything for the Gelflings.

Voice cast members, Jason Isaacs, Simon Pegg, Natalie Dormer, and Egerton discuss how amazing Thra looks on screen. Dormer compares Thra to other epic worlds like Middle Earth and Westeros.  It’s obvious that the actors are fans of the original film. I appreciate their enthusiasm and passion for the project.

The series also features the voices of  Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Mark Hamill, Caitriona Balfe, Mark StrongAlicia Vikander, Andy Samberg,  Lena Headey, and Sigourney Weaver.  Louis Leterrier directs and executive produces with Henson and Halle Stanford.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra with an all new adventure. When three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power, they set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.
