Did you hear that? It’s the whispers of nostalgia growing louder thanks to news we learned today. Beloved children’s series The Chronicles of Narnia is returning to the (small) screen in a multi-year, multi-media deal with Netflix. Now you’ll be able to experience the stories all over again.

What can we expect with this deal? Well, the current plan is to develop a TV series as well as films based on the C.S. Lewis books – at least to start. Families will be able to watch Aslan and the Pevensie siblings “for years to come”, the Chief Content Officer of Netflix said. While it’s currently unknown just how much of his work they plan on covering, the stepson of Lewis, Douglas Gresham, seemed happy with the deal.

“It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world,” said Gresham. “Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”

Of course this isn’t the first time the series has been adapted. Most recently, there were three highly successful film adaptations from Sony, the last one released in 2010. The company is not involved in this deal but one has to wonder if there will be any influence taken. They were, afterall, pretty stylistic. But if they take anything from it, could it be Liam Neeson as Aslan? That voice was just too good.

What do you think of the return of Narnia? Are you tired of remakes or are you totally on board for more adventures? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more updates on this! There is currently no release date for The Chronicles of Narnia.
