More good news for Dracula fans as ABC find’s its Count Dracula for their upcoming supernatural drama The Brides in Goran Višnjić. Written by Riverdale creator/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and directed by Maggie Kiley, The Brides is a contemporary adaptation of the Dracula story in which the Count is left for dead in his crumbling castle in the Carpathian mountains. Meanwhile, his three vampire wives flee to start a new life together. The series will focus on these immortal brides and the things they are willing to do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their non-traditional family.
Gina Torres and Katherine Reis have already been signed on as two of the brides. Torres will portray Cleo Phillips, a queen in her previous life and now a connoisseur of New York City real estate, while Reis will play Dracula’s youngest bride, Lily Stevens, who came face to face with Jack the Ripper in her previous life and is now a struggling singer. While we don’t know who will be playing the third bride, we do know her name will be Renée Pélagie, a top model with her own agency in the heart of New York City.
Alongside them, the cast also features Sophia Tatum and Chris Mason.
Višnjić’s impressive resume includes a nine-year run on NBC’s ER, NBC’s Timeless, other recent credits include Hulu’s Dollface, Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet and CBS’ Extant.
