It’s not just a signal; it’s a warning. DC FanDome revealed the highly anticipated official trailer for Matt Reeves‘ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as our favorite dark knight!

We get to see Pattinson in action as the complicated superhero and as civilian Bruce Wayne. But that’s not all! The trailer also reveals footage of Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.

Nirvana‘s “Something in the Way” plays softly in the background, complementing the events unfolding before us. There’s a bit of flirting between Batman and Catwoman and, clearly, a hazardous situation wherein The Caped Crusader is in over his head.

Overall, The Batman trailer feels gritty, dark and it emits “film noir” vibes. The cinematography evokes a macabre, Gothic-esque Gotham, where danger lurks around every corner.

I’m not sure we need another Batman film, but I’m curious to see how Pattinson fares in this role, and Dano as The Riddler also intrigues me.

Matt Reeves directs and pens the script alongside Mattson Tomlin and Peter Craig. Warner Bros.’ upcoming blockbuster stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, John Turturro and Peter Sarsgaard

Watch the trailer below, and prepare for vengeance when The Batman hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
