The superhero world is getting a lot of great news to start off the year. Late last night, Matt Reeves took to Twitter to share some more After a little over a month of talks, Colin Farrell has been cast as the Penguin in DC‘s upcoming The Batman. Farrell will start alongside a large cast of heavy hitters including Robert Pattinson as a young Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. We also have John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffery Wright as police commissioner Gordan, and Paul Dano taking on the role of the Riddler. We even know that Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson have joined the cast but their roles are under wraps.

Not much is known about the upcoming The Batman, however we have an idea that it will take place early in the life of Bruce Wayne. Early is what makes me nervous for another origin type story, but everything we have been reading is saying otherwise. The casting news isn’t the only piece of news we got either. Wright shared on his Twitter as well that he was jet lagged and thought he might have been late, but now he is heading off to Gotham. This officially kicks off filming with just a little over a year before release. Here is to hoping we don’t have to wait too long before seeing images of the cast!
