The apocalypse is still nigh, fans of The Umbrella Academy! Today, we were blessed with an official, full-length trailer for Season 2. Yes, it’s just as groovy and apocalyptic as you imagined. In addition to said trailer, The Umbrella Academy co-creator Gerard Way released a song exclusively for the show called “Here Comes the End,” which features Judith Hill.

Now, the trailer opens with Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) roaming streets laden with end-of-the-world scenery, without his siblings in tow. We see the Hargreeves have been transported to 1963. Klaus (Robert Sheehan) has cultivated a huge cult following because…Klaus. Diego (David Castañeda) is in a mental facility alongside new character Lila Pitts (Ritu Arya). Lila looks as if she might be a love interest for Diego. Vanya (Ellen Page) is sitting behind the wheel with a mysterious, unnamed character. Learning to drive, perhaps? Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) is with another mystery character played by Yusuf Gatewood. Luther (Tom Hopper) appears to be in an underground fight club of sorts. Ben (Justin Min) is busy being a ghost.

Of course, it wouldn’t be The Umbrella Academy without high stakes. As it turns out, the crew brought the imminent threat of the apocalypse back with them to 1963. We see new formidable villains prowling the ’60s that our protagonists must defeat. There’s even a brief glimpse of what looks like a young Pogo (Adam Godley). In addition, there’s a dinner scene with the Hargreeves’ father Sir Reginald (Colm Feore). The trailer boasts plenty of intricate fight scenes with some The Matrix-inspired moves. A few clever quips doled out by Klaus. There’s even a scene where Allison utilizes her power to spread rumors by forcing Diego to punch himself. That moment made me cackle.

Overall, I think we can expect a highly elevated Season 2 in all aspects. Much of the stylistic elements from Season 1 that made me fall in love with this show are ever-pervasive in the trailer. The Umbrella Academy is a quirky genre show laden with dry humor and a macabre style. Not to mention, it’s not afraid to push the envelope in terms of action and creativity. Well, of course that’s mostly due in part to Way and Gabriel Bá‘s wonderfully unique source material.

Below, you can watch the 3-minute trailer for yourself. Savor it. Relish it. Watch it over and over until Friday, July 31st rolls around.

The Umbrella Academy stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin Min. Season 2 will be available for streaming on Friday, July 31st on Netflix.
