We’ll never tire of venturing to a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars fans were in for a treat this Monday courtesy of StarWars.com. We’ve now got a complete cast list for the highly anticipated Amandla Stenberg-led series The Acolyte, slated to take Disney Plus by storm.

So, who’s joining Stenberg for some galactic shenanigans? Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman and Carrie-Anne Moss. In addition to this cast announcement, Lucasfilm also unveiled a behind-the-scenes image featuring Leslye Headland, Stenberg and Jung-jae. Headland serves as creator, showrunner and executive producer. Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef are attached to produce.

Here’s a synopsis for the High Republic-set series per StarWars.com:

The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

The High Republic era is centuries before Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. We’ll see the Jedi Order in its prime and full fighting mode. The Galactic Republic heavily relied on the Jedi to settle disputes and maintain peace throughout the galaxy. The show itself will be set roughly a century before the aforementioned film. Besides that, we don’t know much else. Character and specific plot details are nil.

That said, color me intrigued! The premise is ripe for narrative exploration and delving deeper into Star Wars‘ impressive, intricate mythology. The High Republic era is fascinating and something we haven’t seen adapted in this manner. I can’t wait for The Acolyte to bring on all the mystery-thriller goodness. If anything, Andor‘s critical and audience acclaim proves that Star Wars is made for the mystery-thriller/spy genre.

The Acolyte is currently in production in London, with a potential premiere in the summer of 2023. Check out the behind-the-scenes photo and cast pictures below.
