Brightburn may have a similar story to the well known Superman origin story, but that kid is not Kal-El from Krypton. The second trailer for the James Gunn produced film shows a darker take on the superhero story.
Brandon, like Clark Kent, is found after a pod falls to earth. A childless couple finds the child and raises him as their own, but he isn’t a social child growing up. The other kids at school bully him and maybe even some of the adults do as well. Brandon begins using his powers to fight back against everyone who bullies him. The whole town is afraid of him, including his adoptive father. The only person who has any faith Brandon is his mother. Despite her gentle and nurturing nature, Brandon still lashes out at the town and killing people. The kid is creepy, there’s no doubt about that.
Brightburn stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Jackson Dunn as Brandon. David Yarovesky directed the script written by Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn.
Watch the trailer below.
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?
Brightburn debuts in theaters on May 24.
