At San Diego Comic Con last weekend, we got a lot of reveals from the Marvel Panel in Hall H, closing out a full day of great trailers and very welcome fan service. We learned there that Captain Marvel will take place in the 1990’s where she’ll fight a Skrull invasion, learned that Michelle Pfeiffer would take up the tiny wings of The Wasp and got a sneak peek at both Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

And, we also got a good long look at Thor: Ragnarok. In the footage we saw, we learned that Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), in some capacity, is responsible for bringing Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) to The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), giving him his champion and forever making him a trusted ally of the ego-driven dictator of Sakaar. And then, we also learned, that she brought Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to the Grandmaster as a contender to The Champion, his Incredible Hulk.

It’s unclear how any of this happens, how she captures our heroes and then sells them — all we know is that she does. However, we’ve now learned just a bit more about her in an interview with Comic Book.

As she tells them, “I bring the Grandmaster things that may be of interest to him, and one of those happens to be Thor. [The Grandmaster is] always grouping people together in fights, and I brought the Hulk to him, and so I bring Thor as a would-be contender, and hilarity ensues.”

We already knew, thanks to the teaser and now the trailer, that Valkyrie was responsible for bringing Thor to the Grandmaster, but this 100% confirms, if there was any doubt, that Valkyrie, in some way, is responsible for giving Hulk his current status as the Champion of Sakaar in this Contest of Champions. This, obviously, will make her one of Grandmaster’s favorite people and someone that Thor will be able to use to get off planet if he can get her on his side, which, obviously, he does.

So, now the mystery becomes how. The last time we saw Hulk was in Avengers: Age of Ultron, when he took off by himself in a quinjet and just — disappeared. He’s gone. He wasn’t around for the Civil War and now we learn he’s across the universe on a whole other planet. So, how’d he get there? Did Valkyrie find him floating through space in his quinjet? Did she learn of his power and come to Earth to kidnap him and ally herself with Grandmaster?

We won’t really know until November.

Until then, let’s just assume she flew to earth on a pegasus and kidnapped the Jade Giant all by herself because that’s so metal.
