Ted leans back in his chair at his desk with his hands behind his head while smiling in Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 3, "4-5-1."

Highlights

  • Apple TV+’s biggest hit, Ted Lasso, is close to securing a Season 4 greenlight.
  • A few of the comedy’s stars are circling a deal to return.
  • Production could begin next year if everyone is back on board and scheduling and budget approvals are favorable.

Biscuits With the Boss … for Season 4

Ted Lasso might get a fourth season after all. Deadline reports the mega-popular Apple TV+ comedy is close to scoring a Season 4 greenlight. Three cast members, under contract with the UK acting union Equity, circle a deal to return — Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins).

Deadline shares that the next step is negotiating with the stars whose SAG-AFTRA contracts have expired. This includes co-creators/executive producers/stars Jason Sudeikis (the titular Ted) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), and star Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).

The Rest of the Cast

Could Warner Bros. Television reach out to the rest of the cast? I hope so. We need Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt), Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), Nick Mohammed (Nathan Shelley), Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo), Cristo Fernández (Dani Rojas) and Billy Harris (Colin Hughes) to reprise their roles. Oh, and Trent Crimm (James Lance). Well, and everyone else. I won’t accept this otherwise.

A Season 4 renewal is contingent on getting the gang back together. Then, there are budget approvals and scheduling to contend with. That said, Sudeikis himself might already be on board with a new season and is merely working out a deal. I can’t imagine Apple and Warner Bros. would pursue this avenue without him.

More Ted Lasso

However, Season 3, ending on May 31, 2023, had a note of finality to it, serving as a proper series ending should Sudeikis close the door to AFC Richmond for good. I’m torn on whether I want this to continue. If the writers can find a reason to bring Ted back to London that makes sense, I’ll enter with an open mind.

Ted Lasso Season 4 could begin production in early 2025 — barring any impediments. In the meantime, you can rewatch (and rewatch) Seasons 1-3 on Apple TV+.
