Creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, Matt Groening, is presenting his first original series in 19 years. It’s called Disenchantment, and it’s coming to Netflix this summer. The teaser was released Thursday.
The teaser for the show, which will have a 10-episode first season (20 episodes have been ordered), is more of a formal introduction than a look into content. But, it does give us some information, and we know a few things that we can hang on to until we get more.
Disenchantment is set in a place called Dreamland, and it’s billed in the teaser as ‘the past’. Which is true, in that it’s set in medieval times. But, this is more fantasy than animated historical fiction, and that’s good news. Futurama has given us some of the best sci-fi/comedy on television, and there’s no reason to believe that Disenchantment will disappoint in the fantasy/comedy realm. In fact, two of the three main characters are fantastical ones. The series follows the debaucherous Princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson), her elf friend, Elfo (Nat Faxon) and her personal demon, Luci (Eric Andre). Yes. Those are characters I can get into.
This show looks fun. Check out the teaser and tell us what you think!
From the mind of Matt Groening, comes the 10-episode adult animated comedy fantasy series, Disenchantment, launching on Netflix, August 17, 2018. In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.
Disenchantment marauds onto TV screens starting August 17th.
