Neill Blomkamp is working on a new Science Fiction film called Inferno. THR reported that Taylor Kitsch landed the lead role in the thriller.
This will be the South African director’s fourth feature film. He won audiences and critics over with his stunning film District 9 back in 2009. He also directed the sci-fi film Elysium and his most recent outing was Chappie.
According to THR, Blomkamp’s film will once again be blurring the line between humans and aliens. Inferno is described by the filmmakers as a “one-of-a-kind epic sci-fi thriller where nothing is what it seems.”

Kitsch will play a cop investigating a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert, however during the investigation he suspects there may be something else going on – maybe even extraterrestrial. He discovers a humanoid beast “that will stop at nothing to exterminate the one witness to the crime.” His wife is abducted and “everything he knows about the universe will be challenged, and our connection to other life forces in the universe will be revealed.”
Kitsch rose to fame in the critically acclaimed television series, Friday Night Lights and also starred in the second season of True Detective. He ventured into science fiction before with John Carter. Most recently he starred in the mini-series Waco as cult leader David Koresh.
Production on Inferno begins in early 2020.
