Welcome to Tavern Talk Thursday! We are expanding! What started as a column dedicated to chatting with members of the TTRPG community is growing to talk about all things TTRPG. We aim to continue sharing all the things we love about the community and all the content within. So, consider this a little peek into our favorite worlds and creators as we explore everything we love.

Welcome back to the tavern, adventurers! As our column grows and evolves, we want to share things we love. So, we couldn’t help but think about all the exciting Kickstarters that drop each month. So, each month, we are going to have a special edition of Tavern Talk Thursday, where we talk about a few that we are excited to share. So get ready for something spooky, a ton of beautiful artwork, something that will get you thinking about the Roman Empire and much more.

October TTRPG Kickstarters

The Hidden Isle

A woman crouched down with a rifle.
The Hidden Isle Kickstarter

Our first Kickstarter is Causa Creations’ The Hidden Isle. This is a TTRPG with one hell of a twist. Instead of your fate lying in the hands of dice, it’s all in the cards. Tarot cards, to be exact. Players will head out on a swashbuckling adventure in Europe, the Middle East, and the secretive island of Discornia. Its focus lies heavily in collaborative storytelling and major roleplaying. What drew our eyes was the jump from dice to tarot cards. We can’t wait to see precisely how an adventure will play out.

Cohors Cthulhu Tabletop Roleplaying Game

Romans and barbarians fighting Lovecraftian horrors.
Cohors Cthulhu Kickstarter

Our second Kickstarter comes from Modiphius Entertainment. Cohors Cthulhu Tabletop Roleplaying Game mixes the H.P. Lovecraft mythos with the Roman Empire. And honestly, any mention of Lovecraftian horror, and we are in. This will be an epic adventure set at the height of the Roman Empire. They use a 2D20 system that rewards players for rolling low, so all those part of the Natural One club will be thankful! Plus, the Kickstarter also features minis that everyone collector will enjoy.

The Crooked Moon: Folk Horror in 5E

Three witches brewing.
The Crocked Moon: Folk Horror in 5E

Legends of Avantris’ The Crooked Moon: Folk Horror in 5E Kickstarter is next on our list. Just in time for Halloween, this 400+ page tome brings folklore, horror films and all the spooky and supernatural stories we can think to life in TTRPG form. Game masters will be able to weave a terrifying tale set within the mysterious world of Druskenvald. With more than enough supplement material, everyone can bring their favorite scary stories to life.

Vault 5e: A Life Well Lived

A retired hero thinking about rejoining the adventuring life.
Vault 5e: A Life Well Lived Kickstarter

Our final Kickstarter to keep an eye on for October is Cubicle 7 Games’ Vault 5e: A Life Well Lived. This is a 5e supplement that brings player characters to life like never before. This will help players fully flesh out their characters, from the backstory to what happens between adventures to their retirement. It also features Cubicle 7’s new Lifepath system and downtime activities to participate in. Players can introduce anything to everything into their regular games to help take their roleplaying and characters to the next level.
