It’s plain to see that Critical Role has taken the world by storm over the last six years. They recently announced the rerelease for the sourcebook Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn. The original sourcebook was released in 2017 and gave players their first glimpse into Matthew Mercer‘s world. The new sourcebook will be released directly through Darrington Press and will significantly expand and improve the original.
Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn will be packed with beautiful art and new information. Within the 280 pages, players will find a guide to each major region of Tal, Dorei with story hooks to kick off a campaign. Then, expanded character options, including new subclasses and backgrounds. Finally, there will be magic items like the Vestiges of Divergence, newly crafted creatures, new lore and updated stat blocks for each member of Vox Machina and a gorgeous foldout poster map. We really love Critical Role‘s maps.
Mercer serves as the lead designer alongside Hannah Rose and James J. Haeck for Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn. They had contributions from Critical Role cast members Laura Bailey (harp noises), Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham. They also received input and contributions from John Stavropoulos and Aabria Iyengar. If knowing that these exceptional individuals helped craft this new sourcebook isn’t enough to get you excited – I don’t know what will!
Personally, I am excited to see if they will include new information about our Vox Machina mates that connects with the second and third campaigns. Like what have our friends been up to while the Mighty Nein were adventuring? Or how they connect with the current campaign members? I can’t wait to get my hands on Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn! And, I don’t have to wait long!
Critical Role will be dropping Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn on January 18, 2022. It will be made available first at Darrington Press Guild stores (list here) and Critical Role shops! After some time, it will also be available in other local hobby and gaming stores. But that isn’t all! The sourcebook will be getting the deluxe treatment from Matt Lillard‘s Beadle & Grimm and include in-world player handouts, battle maps, a unique Game Master screen and much more. Keep your eye out for more news on when that will be available. How excited are you to get your hands on this new sourcebook? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
