Episode 5 of Syfy’s Dark Matter was a trip through zombie/ contagion/ outbreak land.
The crew is fresh off their escape from a Space Station. They are checking the mysterious vault on their ship when they get an incoming transmission from a boss they didn’t know they had. Enter David Hewlett (Stargate) as said boss – Talbor Calchek – in all his creepy, sleazy glory. It was a joy to see Hewlitt in this role – he’s been missed when it comes to space shows. But he’s not so nice here. Fresh off his anger from the crew bungling the gun smuggling job, he demands that they take on another one to make amends.
The job is a salvage op on a ship that seems to be dead. Well it is dead – at least the crew is from some kind of contagion that turns some into zombie type creatures. Two is bitten by one of these zombies during a fight and is told that she will definitely succumb to the virus. Except she doesn’t and now everyone is super creeped out by her. She even healed crazy fast which she has not shared with the rest of the crew.
One and Three are still arguing like children with Three having the upper hand with the blackmail thing and all. Plus One is all hurt because it seems that Three and Two were getting it on (well, until Two got bit, now Three doesn’t have time for her). Five found some kind of data storage device that the android actually thinks is an inter-dimensional device. Hmmm, that could be very interesting!
Not much new info on Four or Six which is disappointing! I love those two characters.
Dark Matter is on Syfy as part of their Syfy Friday line up at 10 PM and also on the Space Channel.
