With the remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter underway, it seemed that the announcements had come to an end. However, Blumhouse just hit us with a new casting announcement! Sydney Lemmon has joined Zac Efron, Michael Greyeyes and Ryan Armstrong. In this remake, Lemmon will be playing the character of Vicky – Charlie’s mother.

Before becoming the actress she is today, Lemmon received her MFA from the Yale School of Drama. Then, she went on to receive additional training at LAMDA and BADA at Oxford University. Lemmon has performed on both the stage and the screen. She starred on stage in titles such as Animal Farm, Happy Days and Romeo and Juliet. Her Broadway debut was in a production of Parisian Woman

When it comes to the screen, Lemmon has guest-starred on Fear of the Walking Dead as well as Succession. Most recently, she starred in Marvel’s Hulu series Helstrom in which she portrayed Ana Helstrom. Next, Lemmon will be appearing in Plain Fiction, an independent feature.

Firestarter is a remake of the original film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. It follows a young girl named Charlie who goes on the run with her father after a secret government agency wants to use her for her powers. It is being directed by Keith Thomas from a script adapted by Scott Teems. Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman are producing. Associate producer on the original film, Martha De Laurentiis, is executive producing.

The official logline for the film is “A young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”

Firestarter is currently in production from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse and Weed Road Pictures.
