This news comes as a bit of a shock. According to Variety, after merely one episode of Swamp Thing being released, the series has been cancelled. DC Universe has decided to pull the plug on the big man in the bayou.

It’s currently unknown just why the series has been pulled but it’s likely due to expenses. The show looks well done with really nice special effects. Regardless of the actual reasoning, it appears like an all-too-quick situation.

Fans agree that the decision was made too quickly and have launched the hashtag #SaveSwampThing in an attempt to change the minds of the executive producers. The outspoken fans have cited the cast as one of the best things about the show. It’s unknown if the show can be saved but these fans will make themselves known.

The show follows Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she investigates a deadly virus infecting a small town in Louisiana. It also starred Virginia Madsen, Andy BeanDerek MearsHenderson WadeMaria StenJeryl Prescott and Will Patton.
