Eileen (Shoshannah Stern) goes hunting on her own, trying to clear out some vampires. Sam shows up because he was worried about her. Eileen can clearly take care of herself and says he’s being a little overprotective of her.

Back at the bunker, Dean says he’s got the answer to their Chuck problem. The Demon Tablet gives instructions on how to seal Heaven and Hell if the angels and/or demons tried to take over Earth.  Dean interprets that as, how to protect humanity if God ever became incapacitated. Which means, God has a weak spot.

THE PROPHET

Cas pays a visit to Donatello (Keith Szarabajka), who thinks what the Winchesters are doing is impossible.  Dean reminds him that God locked up his sister, Amara/The Darkness (Emily Swallow) and kept her imprisoned. So why can’t they do the same to him?  Donatello suggests killing God, but God needs to exist to maintain the balance of the universe.  Last time it took the power of God to lock up Amara. Do they have the power of God?

Donatello starts reading the tablet and finds out that God is scared of something that he only shared with his favorite, Michael.  Sam suggests that Michael might know how God locked up Amara, but Cas doesn’t think Michael will tell them. Dean suggests that Michael might want revenge for being locked up in the first place. One problem…Michael’s in hell.  He possessed Adam (Jake Abel), Sam and Dean’s half brother when he fell into Hell.  That’s when Michael was sealed in the cage.

Donatello freaks out, but something stops him.  He sits down and calmly tells the boys that they are talking to God/Chuck.  Prophets speak the word of God. God tells the boys that he likes their process, but they need to let go of this quest.  Or he will hurt off of their friends. The bunker has wards surrounding it, so God is the only being who could get past those.  The boys ask Donatello to leave before discussing this latest development.

THE QUEEN OF HELL

They are not going to drop this lead.  Cas says their friends will be in danger if they continue, but Sam says they will never be safe as long as Chuck is out there. Dean says God will make their friends suffer in front of them just to get back at the Winchesters. The only way to keep everyone safe is to take Chuck down. Cas reminds them that Michael is sitting in a cage in Hell.  And he’s apparently gone mad…or so Lucifer and Chuck said.

They have a spell that opens the gates of Hell.  Eileen stays behind so she can help bring them back later. When the boys get there, they immediately encounter trouble.  Lady demons throw the guys around until someone tells them to stop. It’s Rowena (Ruth Connell), the Queen of Hell. This makes so much sense!

They tell her about Chuck and the need to speak to Michael.  Rowena laughs. She says Michael won’t be in the cage. He could be anywhere.  Rowena sends her demons out to find him.

NO REGRETS

Back at the Bunker, Eileen gets a call from a fellow hunter. She says a vampire coven is headed her way in Omaha. She asks Eileen to come help clear them out.  Eileen has to wait for the guys to return, but says if she’s free when they arrive, she will fight. In the meantime, she keeps the spell going.

Sam starts to apologize for killing Rowena, but she says it’s the best thing that could have happened. There are some things about being alive that she misses, but at last, she’s a Queen.  She thinks she should have died a long time ago.

Rowena senses something is wrong between Cas and Dean.  She tells them to fix it. They will still have regrets when they die and won’t be able to make it right.  A demon reports that Michael is no longer in Hell.

OH BROTHER

Adam is at Jaci’s Red Wagon Diner where he’s eating for the first time since going to Hell. He talks to Michael about what they’re going to do now that they’re out of the cage.  Michael is pretty much alone. All of his brothers are dead and his dad disappeared. Adam is in a similar position, but the only time he met his brothers, they sent him to Hell.

When the boys get back to the bunker, Dean asks Donatello to let them know if he feels something divine happening. He joins Sam in the library, telling him about the conversation with Donatello.  Dean takes the opportunity to talk to Sam about Eileen. Sam shrugs it off, saying they have an agreement. Dean thinks Sam should take a chance on Eileen. He could do worse. And she could do so much better. But Dean is happy for him.

Adam/Michael gets a visit from Lilith (Anna Grace Barlow).  God sent her to fetch Michael. He doesn’t believe her because she’s a demon.  Lilith won’t leave without him because she can’t fail God. Michael smites her and Lilith disappears. That set off Donatello’s divinity alert. He calls Dean to let him know where to find Michael. He’s in Cairo, Egypt.

THE ARCHANGEL

They can’t get to Michael before he moves again.  Cas says they can bring Michael to them. He prays to Michael, saying things are changing.  Chuck has changed too. And now they have the same enemy, God.

Cas waits outside and Michael appears.  Adam remembers Cas and asks if he’s there to beg for forgiveness.  Cas didn’t come to beg. He lights up a lighter and a circle of fire surrounds Adam/Michael.  Dean and Sam come out of nowhere with angel cuffs.

Michael puts on the cuffs and refuses to believe that God is evil.  Especially coming from those who betrayed him and Adam. Sam admits they were wrong to send Adam to Hell. Michael allows them to talk to Adam.

Dean and Sam are surprised that Adam is still in there.  He tells them that he has an agreement with Michael since they only had each other.  Dean admits they bailed on him. Adam asks for an apology, but Michael takes over before they can apologize.

THE TRUTH

Michael wants to know what the Winchesters want.  They tell him about Chuck and how he’s changed. They are all puppets.  Michael doesn’t believe them. He changes back to Adam to avoid talking to them.

In Adam’s head, he talks to Michael.  He reminds Michael of how Sam and Dean always try to do the right thing.  If something is off with God because they believe it’s true. And if they believe it, it’s probably true. Michael doesn’t care. He was God’s favorite. Adam suggests he doesn’t know his dad as well as he thinks.

Eileen’s friend. calls for backup.  Eileen is hesitant to help her, but the woman is under attack.  Eileen tells Sam about her and they leave to help her.

Cas checks in on Adam, but it’s Michael. He says he won’t betray God. Cas tells him how God is manipulating everyone.  He created a story and Michael wasn’t the subject. But Michael was supposed to be God’s favorite. Cas says Lucifer knew God can’t be trusted. He was always the smart one.  Michael attacks Cas, but Cas is able to get his hands on Michael’s head to show him the truth.

THE INGREDIENTS

Sam and Eileen find Sue’s truck, but it’s empty and there’s no real sign of struggle. Sue appears out of nowhere and Eileen is happy that she’s okay.  Sue turns into Chuck.

Dean thinks Cas may have gone too far by showing Michael the truth.  Adam was upset. The bunker shakes and Adam/Michael joins them. He says he did everything for his father.  He loved him. And he’s not the only Michael. He will help them. What was done to Darkness can be done to Chuck.  Michael gives them a spell and list of ingredients. The last ingredient is nectar from a leviathan blossom. A flower that only grows in Purgatory.  Michael opens the door to Purgatory and says they have 12 hours to find it. They release Michael and he leaves.

Dean asks to talk to Adam one last time.  Michael allows it. Dean says they are sorry for what happened to Adam.  He’s a good man and he didn’t deserve it. Adam asks since when do they get what they deserve.  He wishes Dean luck and leaves.
